Kipre lined up by Trabzonspor on a free
There will be thousands of Cardiff fans who would want the club to re-sign Cedric Kipre.
Indeed, the centre-back, 27, scored arguably one of the most important goals in the club's recent history when he smashed home the winner at Rotherham United to maintain the club's Championship status.
And Kipre, who was one of the standout performers for West Brom last season, is out of contract this summer, sparking a scramble for his signature. Sign up to our Cardiff City newsletter here.
However, according to Turkish outfit Sabah, Trabzonspor have already begun talks with the Ivory Coast international. West Brom announced their retained list recently and confirmed they had offered Kipre a new deal, however it looks as though his future may lie elsewhere.
Cardiff fans would love it if the club could tempt him back to the Welsh capital, no doubt, but Turkey seems to be calling for the Baggies' 2023/24 player of the year.

I'm one of the ones that would love to see him back.

Been saying for a long time on here - his 4 year contract is up in the next few months and is on £10K a week at WBA.

Not for me.
Can be brilliant but he also is prone to around 10/11 big mistakes over a season.

I'd have him here in a heartbeat, especially for 10k a week. Excellent player and seemed to enjoy his football here when on loan. Suits Buluts style of play

I agree!
However, if it was a choice between Phillips and Kipre........hmmmmm, not sure......

Kipre in on a free and Phillips in for 2m would be a good bit of business.
I would be happy with Goutas, McGuinness, Kipre and Phillips as our 4 CB options going into next season

Kipre over Phillips all day long for me, but dont think old Vinny will part with the cash tbh.

What kind of wage would he command? That's the variable for me. He's very good at this level, but agree with the mistakes side of his game. He's one of those edgy players who can pull off a crazy last ditch tackle but then a simple clanger; but definitely a fan fave type of player.

If past reports are to be believed, he was on 10k a week with WBA.
For 10k a week I would definitely bring him in.

Agreed. Likely to be slightly inflated due to him being a free agent, though.

In 2020 - Cedric Kipre signed a 4 year contract at WBA - Worth £2M which works out at ... £9,615 a week .
Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avci is also said to be an admirer of Kipre, and is therefore also keen to bring him on board.
For his part, Kipre himself is reportedly keen on a move to Trabzonspor, following his four years on the books at West Brom.
He initially joined the Baggies in the summer of 2020, but struggled to establish himself until last season, previously spending time out on loan with the likes of Charleroi and Cardiff City.
The 2023/24 campaign though, saw Kipre become a vital part of the West Brom defence for the first time.
His form helped Carlos Corberan's side finish fifth in the Championship table, but they missed out on promotion to the Premier League after defeat to Southampton in the play-off semi-finals.
In total, Kipre has made 67 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, scoring four goals and providing two assists in that time.
For their part, Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish top-flight this season, meaning they will be competing in the Europa League during the 2024/25 campaign.
