Football Cops

Its a series on C4 which I've started watching out of boredom.

Episode one, barely into it, and I already feel like they are a bunch of pr**s.

One small copper having a go at a guy "I've seen thousands like you, what do you mean by put me down, sounds like you're threatening a police officer"

No wonder they have a bad name.

Not watched it but you have to remember they are under huge amounts of pressure to police these events efficiently.

Football disorder is nowhere near where it was thankfully, but there are big signs that football related violence is increasing - that puts big pressure on the officers.

They get shouted at and abused by these people so I don’t think it’s a surprise that they can get a bit tetchy and give a bit back.

Obviously there are bad ones, as we’ve seen with the recent horrific news concerning several officers (mainly in the Met) - but they are the minority.

Most of them are trying to do their job efficiently under difficult circumstances.

At our games, I can often have good conversations with officers - be that SWP officers or those that work in the area we’ve gone to at away games.
