Thats seems to be the tactic these days

Buy top end championship and lower end prem players - give it a go and if you get relegated youre set for the next season

I dont know if I prefer that tactic over paying out more money with a bigger chance of staying up. But then again I'm not paying :D

Been saying this for couple seasons clubs are happy to be relegated and build over couple of years accumulating parachute payments along way.... this is why getting all three relegated teams in top six 2nd time such teams have had two promoted never happened previously.....Leicester using same strategy aswell.

Didn't work for us second time around unfortunately.

I can remember the club being quite heavily criticised after Warnock's promotion for not spending in the same way that Fulham were in an attempt to stay up even though they were relegated with us also.

However if you look at the paths the clubs have taken since being relegated it's like chalk and cheese.

We also never used the parachute payments properly hence why since being relegated only once have we been anywhere near the play offs.

Lots clubs didn't use parachute payments well but past 3 seasons there as been a change in strategy keep spending to minimum on chance stay up and use excess to buy quality if relegated to come back up .. you can see this when two relegated teams went straight back up past 2 seasons.... prior to this be lucky get 1 go back up ... Burnley buying quality with £10m+ players
expect other two to buy in similar vein ..... the downside to this is top 6 places you've hot 3 relegated teams filling it leaving just couple places for rest championship! You'll end up with a distorted league like Premier with parachute teams filling top 6 places eventually...

Its quite simple really.

Spend and you have a chance of going up, with a chance of staying up.

Or spend like us and hover around mid table or worse.

Yes and we still have Leeds in the Championship who will be spending big again this season no doubt.

Ipswich spent little in comparison to the other two promoted clubs or others in league like Hull.... but undoubtedly way things are going money will decide promotion more and more..

They are still struggling to keep within ffp but can still spend more than most...championship is getting more unbalanced every season with the haves & have nots

This lunacy will hopefully kill the game as it sits. f**k the City, I watch Grange Albion now and tbh its more enjoyable.
