The key to success after gaining promotion is often to keep the core of your side together, then add additional quality to help take the step up. Ebou Adams, despite only spending half a season with the club played a key role in their promotion, helping Paul Warne’s side hold onto an automatic promotion spot.

The Rams have already added Jerry Yates, Kayden Jackson, Corey Blackett-Taylor and Kenzo Goudmijn and will be hoping to add a few more quality additions ahead of what a difficult season could be.

According to reports, the Rams are deep into negotiations to bring Cardiff City midfielder Ebou Adams to the club in a deal worth just under £1million.

The 28-year-old has been with the Welsh side since 2022 and spent the latter half of the 23/24 season on loan at Pride Park.

During his first spell with Derby he made 17 appearances, scoring one goal and contributing one assist before returning to his parent club this summer. However, according to John Percy he could be set for an immediate return.

I get what you’re saying but a lot of the time it’s down to players and agents running their contracts down.

It looks like the deal for adams is not £650K but £900K if true very good bit of business for city as we paid nothing for him

from my understand Annis, its close to £750k, in terms of upfront cash, with about £300k/£400k add on in terms of bonus add ons etc.
