Her leadership was confirmed by the party on Wednesday - she was the only nominee.

She has promised to ‘unify’ the Welsh Labour Party, which has been beset by rows since the election of Mr Gething last March.

With no contest, Ms Morgan has not set out what she will do as first minister.
She promised to listen to the public: "Rather than us set the agenda, we'll let the people of Wales set the agenda for us.
"I imagine that they would want a much stronger economy than we've got at the moment, focusing on good quality, ideally, green jobs.

"I imagine that they would like an NHS that works better, better education standards, better buses and transport."

She said are people coming in "I hope from outside of Wales" to look at what the NHS is doing on its high waiting lists.
Asked if she would give up her peerage, she said she had not been to the House of Lords "for many years".
"I'm hoping I will be able to pause that relationship and have that opportunity if necessary to think about what happens in the future.

Plaid Cymru's Rhun ap Iorwerth said: "The fact that she is the third leader in three months speaks volumes about the turmoil at the heart of the governing party."

He attacked her record as health minister: "The direct legacy of Eluned Morgan's time in government so far is record high waiting lists and an inability to get to grips with the significant challenges with the NHS."
'Coronation'

Andrew RT Davies, Welsh Conservative leader in the Senedd, added: "I firstly congratulate Eluned Morgan on becoming the first female leader of Welsh Labour and, if supported by the Senedd, Wales' first ever female first minister."
He said she has presided over the "worst Welsh NHS waiting lists on record".

"The baroness has picked up the crown at the coronation, with Prince Charming as her deputy," he added.

Mr Gething remains the first minister until Ms Morgan is confirmed in a vote of the Senedd, which is likely to be recalled from its summer recess at a yet to be determined date.

I am aghast at this appointment, as I see Eluned Morgan as another ineffective ‘wannabe’ who simply won’t listen to the real issues of the Welsh public. Her record in office suggest this…

Congratulations to Eluned Morgan, I wish her well in her new job.

Look forward to seeing her work with the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, as the Welsh Labour Government and the Westminster Government work together. The same in Scotland and Northern Ireland hopefully.

Worcester like the Labourites are utterly deluded. She is now in charge of health, education and transport. God help us. She says she will listen to what the people want- excellent - and then ignore them. Just interviews on BBC and asked what she would do about health. I’m not a labour voter nor a fan of hers. However as correctly pointed out. She has a mandate in so much as she is the labour leader and labour were elected.

We elect parties/representatives not leaders. The party is responsible for giving us their leader.

That being said. It is a shame the Labour Party itself were not given a chance to vote for her. That stinks a bit and didn’t exactly work well for Sunak being appointed.

The party membership should have had the right to hear what she stands for and what her vision and leadership style should be.

Fwiw I couldn’t care less about her speeding tickets. That’s very low hanging fruit on the scale of dodgyness.

I voted for my constituentancy AM and a PR vote against the labour manifesto presented by Mark Drakeford. I heard through the umpteen debates and interviews what Gethin wanted to do and what direction even though I had no vote. Now We have another first minister with a fair amount of executive power gifted the job based on backroom deals. Her whole mandate is to listen to people, what people, her people........

I am deep down happy as this will be the Liz Truss moment for the Welsh establishment, oh for a half-decent opposition and a media worthy of the proud career of "journalist".

If Rhodri, Drakeford, Guessing and now Elunedd is the best Wales has to offer as leadership, is it any wonder we are where we are?

And it's a tough job really. We are a tiny nation but we do have a lot of talent but it sure isn't in our gov leadership. They would be sussed in similar positions in private industry within minutes, so it's a career choice and almost gold plated.

I think this will be a Truss moment and she knows it. Like the Tories at WM, the political cycle has to change when the promises run out, the ideas dry up and the best of the worst are pushed up front as the clock ticks down.

Politics is a busted flush as we know it, has been for years as big biz really runs the show. Democracy and gov is a token and has delivered nothing for 50+ years, both cheeks of the same arsehole.

I expect nothing from any gov or even LAs, but what I won't accept is being taken backwards, and that's what's happened from WM, the devolved realms right down to the LAs across the UK. It's a hot mess but the pigs will keep their noses in the trough whilst spouting hot air, delivering nothing and being unaccountable for their institutional incompetence.

She's bad news but couldn't resist being pushed into the limelight. Always a liability waiting to happen but she will do well out of it despite doing a Truss and Kamikaze Kwarteng. Some mug outfits will employ her after this for a few shekles whilst she guarantees her FM pension for a bit of short term pain as her main aim.

Sennedd Will have a vote on who will be 1st minister? Labour vote for her Plaid cons will vote for their leaders although neither are candidates! Funny way to elect a 1st minister....

Her only hope is to arrange a series of referendums, including whether this shower of shite continues.

The Assembly will never work under politicians especially in Wales where they are of such low quality. It's only chance is to make a series of appointments of specialist people in key positions, who have experienced business and industry. They won't be elected, but this lot don't have popular support and are in on a technicality.
