The deal for Robertson is definately a permanent move. Man

Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:34 pm

Updated Saturday 27th July 2024:

Alex Robertson is now set to meet with Erol Bulut. I expect the talks will go well and we can expect Robertson to be a Cardiff player the beginning of next week.

The deal for Robertson is definately a permanent move.

Man City would not be lending a player whose contract expires in June 2025.

Fee has been agreed between Cardiff and Man City who have now allowed the player to speak with the Bluebirds.

Robertson has been away on holiday and has rebuffed any attempts Man City have made about him signing a fresh contract. He wants out.

Portsmouth are still very interested in the midfield talent - now at 21, a full Australian International - but they can't compete with the Bluebirds' financial muscle in terms of an undisclosed transfer fee and the wages concerned.

No medical has been booked.

Bulut due to now speak directly with the player and his agent tomorrow, with a view of trying to get Robertson bedded into the squad ASAP.

Meeting is on Saturday but fudge the date over "this weekend". Not sure where the meeting is taking place - could well be in the Welsh capital.

I posted something from the Portsmouth press that said he was having a medical with us, they’d obviously got ahead of themselves.

But still sounds like there’s a good chance of this happening. Say what you want about Bulut, but when players meet him they always seem to like him and then sign for us.

I hope we get this done, because he’s a very good player.

So a fee has been agreed then and we still have All our loans still to look at ...

If he proves himself a good player, he'll be worth a lot of money due to his age and homegrown status. I imagine Man City will ask for a percentage of his next sale to be factored in the deal.

think the only thing that could swing this for pompey over us, was Buluts words regarding Wintle, he wants to play every game, etc, Robertson might see that and think i'll be a bench player. whereas with Pompey he knows he'll probably play every game

Nah wintle is completely different situation bulut obviously doesn't see wintle as answer to that position hence hes going...... you don't sign a player like Robertson to stick on bench thats for sure.

I agree. Bullut is being as kind as he can re Wintle and nobody would read too much into that imo.

So bulut is clearly trying to sign players that are first team starters and where possible, nailed on.

The level we are aspiring to, wintle isn’t an every game starter. He’s too inconsistent with his performances. So he’s going to be rotated to keep him fresh and try and get higher performances.

That’s the same as many other players we have had over the last few years.

If someone is good enough and raise the bar. They will demand that start position.

Ng. Goutas. Siopis.

I’ve not seen Robertson play but i imagine bulut sees him as a guy to raise the performances and play every game if fit.

Ralls will be a club man. A squad man. He won’t complain if he’s on the bench and will perform as asked. Where asked. When asked.

Bulut clearly doesn’t think wintle will do the same.

but then if Robertson is starting every game, thats Sio and Robertson and Ramsey 10. that means Turnbull, Ruben, Ralls on the bench, (assuming Eli King and Joel go out on loan and Rino i sold)

i would of said, you don't spend £2m on a player like Turnbull to stick on a bench, im happy wer're signing strength in depth

Really depends on how and where bulut wants to play the players... certainly need cover for Rambo also he will be playing deeper this season says bulut.... but right need depth in squad particularly in midfield.

Don’t buy this at all.

For a start, it’s clear that Wintle isn’t needed because he’s too defensive and we won’t be playing that way this season. I know Bulut said what he said but that’s not the real reason.

Anyway at every club, a player won’t play if they don’t play well. If they do play well, they’ll play every game.

Robertson is supposedly a confident player so will believe he’s good enough to play every week wherever he goes.

The fact that he’s meeting with Bulut is a good sign. I still think we’ll get this one done.

Wouldn’t worry about that.

No different to Bulut saying all through January that he was hopeful of signing Moore.

Not worried ned a deal is only done when player is wearing the shirt in official picture...

He will look at the options and decide from there.

We can offer him football and a chance of playoffs.

They can offer him a team he knows but a probable relagation scrap.
