Despite media reports that Cardiff had virtually signed Alex Robertson and manager Erol Bulut saying he was believing the deal was done.




John Mousinho insisted he’s still optimistic over the chances of a Pompey return for Alex Robertson.
And the Blues boss is adamant the bid to bring the Manchester City starlet back to Fratton Park remains alive, amid strong interest from Cardiff City.

And Mousinho revealed Pompey would be open to bringing in the League One title-winning hero on a permanent basis, if that was the best avenue to a Robertson deal this summer.

Alex Robertson met Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut on Saturday to discuss a permanent move and has also met up again with Pompey boss John Mousinho.

It’s actually not down to Manchester City, it’s down to the personal terms Robertson can agree with either Championship club.

Mousinho says “it looks like it’s between us and Cardiff City who the 21 year old decides to join.”

Robertson made 23 appearances in League 1 last season ,scoring 1 goal, he has yet to play in the Championship or anything higher than League, but made a massive impression last season.

Robertson has never actually played for Manchester City’s first team.

Some say he was a great asset last season, but gets injured.

You could be right - This should have been 1 of the 2 new faces we were told was coming here this weekend .

Its a club he knows, a manager he knows, and team mates he knows.

Both of us are championship, only difference being that we are apparently pushing for top 6.

That was my thinking too, if we stood out to him he'd have made his decision by now...think Pompey might win this race.

If get ghazi could prompt him to come here as showing ambition ..

Seems to think he is not our first choice.
