Has Bulut been fully backed yet?

Mon Jul 29, 2024 2:22 pm

Not yet, in my opinion and it remains to be seen if he will. Two good signings doesn't even replace what we had last year.

In my book, backing a manager means getting what the manager wants. Now the players we are getting/ looking at maybe Buluts choice, buț the speed of the arrivals shows that there is difficulty.

If there is difficulty is it because we won't pay the required wages or we won't spend on transfer fees? Am sure Willock and Chambers come with good wages, but have we used our top budgets?

Still time of course to rectify matters and two or three signings ( which are desperately needed) will once again shift the balance of opinion.

Your last sentence sums it up. The window is not even close to being closed yet.

Speed of the arrivals could well show the quality of the players that we're after. They probably have a few suitors. :bluebird:

More of the cynic on me feels he won't be 'backed' in anywhere near the full sense of the word.

There needs to have been business done quicker. Yes lots of time to go, but one has to say lots of time has passed with inactivity too.

Not that I disagree with what your saying but have we been inactive, getting the right players and deals in take time.

Kanga looks all but signed, and hopeful of Robertson being done this week.

I do get your point though everyone wants players in every week, we’ve been away on tour for a week so was always going to be a slow week transfer wise

Haha..... Now where have I said that? Tan has, however, said he will back Bulut, and as of yet, It has not been apparant.

I'll blame him if his statement was untrue, and won't blame him if, in fact, he sticks to his word.

Depends really he’s got too players he’s wanted so I’d say he’s been backed, it’s if he doesn’t get his targets then I’d say he hasn’t been fully backed

Define backed. Just because we haven't spent millions upon millions on players doesn't mean he hasn't been or will not be backed. You of all people know that it's not like going to the supermarket & picking what you want off the shelf, putting it in your trolley & then paying for it. The players we want have to want to come here & that has nothing to do with being backed as it's up to the player & maybe a ridiculous amount of money might change his mind, it might not. Some players will use our interest to get a move to a club they would rather be at or to get more money from someone else, doesn't mean the boss wasn't backed, we just wouldn't be held to ransom.

We can only go as fast as the players we are after, like it or not we have to wait.

Some won't be happy no matter how much the club spend or don't spend, even free transfers come with a cost, sometimes a very high cost.

Backed is getting in quality players no matter how they come in because it will still cost fai amount of money! What i found this morning is clubs not prepared to divulge how much they spent on a player? This morning out of around 50 championship transfers only huddersfield said how much paid for player it was £500k all
Others was undisclosed fee..... a lot of freebies aswell

Healthy debate and some good points raised.

Whereas we are fans and not those running a football club, to me, backing a manager means providing sufficient funds whether this is wages or transfer funds to get a specific objective.

Tans objective is top 2/6.... I'm not saying he isn't going back the manager, BUT there appears little tangible evidence of real intent, yet.

Remember the title of the thread was 'yet'. Fans aren't stupid, and the feeling is one of a decent start, and no more.

Appears to be good start transfer wise but will be pointless if dont get in at least the 3 other players we need to make 1st eleven top 6 material and must be quality players not Joe average.

Loans and freebies there's his supposed backing. When it truth so far like the original poster said better players went back to there parent clubs at the end of last season, yet some people are talking of top six finish this season. Amazing really imo

Half the time when we do sign players it's "he's not played much so needs to get fit" or "needs time to adapt" nonsense. Baffles me why we leave it so later in windows which we probably will again.

‘Freebies’ are never free. Take into account the wages, signing on fee and agents fee etc and you can bet that for the quality 2 that we’ve signed already, they’ve cost a fair bit. No loans in as yet but we’re tracking a striker with an option to buy; his club have rejected recent bids of 2-3m so I guess we’re going to be laying out a fair amount for him too even if it doesn’t show as a trsnsfer fee between the clubs atm. .
