Anwar El Ghazi is having a medical at Cardiff today ahead of signing a one-year deal.

El Ghazi was released by Mainz in October after a social media post relating to Israel-Palestine conflict and backing Palestine with Free Palestine , but a German court ruled in his favour this month.


Played for Aston Villa 102 times

Only without a club due to politics, would be a great signing at this level.

I'd be very surprised, he was playing at a much higher level before being unfairly sacked for posting about Palestine on social media.

Just been on sky sports new we are getting him .he's terminating his contract, his club still havnt paid him is back wages he won in court .

Wow, this would be a top quality signing at this level. I really mean top quality.

Only got sacked by Mainz because he spoke out about Palestine. He then won his legal case against Mainz.

Scored some very good goals in the Premier League for Villa and also did well at PSV.

The strength of this rumour seems to be growing, really hope it’s true.

His experience will be crucial.

I’m familiar with this player unlike other new signings and rumours. He was very poor at Everton and the time before at Villa having initially starting well including scoring one of the goals of the season. I had forgotten about him until now. On his day can be very effective out wide and through the channels, he shoots! He may be ring rusty but will bring experience, so I am not against this signing as long as it isn’t costing us in high wages, recent injury record is healthy and most of all he is willing to do the hard yards on a freezing rainy Tuesday night at Stoke and Middlesbrough . I remember him being lazy at Everton a bit prima Donna if my memory serves me well. Looks like he’s signing fingers crossed all of the above won’t be a problem and he has hunger desire and work rate for our shirt. A new start for him .

Sky put out less than an hour ago that El Ghazi wants to terminate his contract to join us, nothing will have changed in that time.

Paul has since said its moved along quickly. Mental.

Just seen that.

To be fair, I’m not sure how clued up he is these days.

Only ever seems to put out names when they’ve been reported elsewhere.

Would certainly trust Sky over him.
