Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of centre-forward Wilfried Kanga.

The Ivory Coast international joins from Hertha BSC and will spend the 2024/25 season in the Welsh capital.

Kanga was also out on loan last season in the Jupiler Pro League with Standard Liège, where he scored 12 times and assisted on three occasions.

Speaking about his new signing, City boss Erol Bulut said: "He has got a bit of everything as a forward. He works hard and can finish. He has a lot of quality.

“We needed more in that position this season. We were excited by what he showed last term in the Belgium and believe as coaches we can help him get even better. He knows what he must deliver as part of our team. We hope he can score and assist a lot of goals.”

Discussing his move, Wilfried added: "I feel very happy to be here. I know all about Cardiff City already. We want to get this Club back up the league.

"I've enjoyed being in the stadium already. You can feel something special around it.

"I can't wait now to play in front of our fans. Let's do it!"

Wilfried is our third summer signing for the men’s First Team squad, joining Chris Willock and Calum Chambers in strengthening Erol Bulut’s side ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign!

Yes we should have spent a few million on a transfer fee plus he’s not a proven championship striker

Positive about this as he's not usual target man, someone who makes runs rather than play with his back to goal

I know I am greedy, but i would love to see another big man. I think the whole Bulut system is about getting the ball into the feet of a back-to-goal striker to lay it off to the attacking midfielders advancing as a pack and being there for crosses.

Not sure Etete is quite there at this stage of his career to lead the line in a team with top 6 intentions.

Kanga is a big fella and from what I’ve seen is pretty good in the air so I reckon he’ll play anyway that’s asked of him.

This signing excites me.
