What's happening in Gaza is despicable and inhuman but politics has no place inside a football ground.

Totally agree with you Monty. The last thing the club needs is a division caused by anyone with a political agenda, regardless of whether it is considered to be valid.

He got fired over tweets on his own Twitter account. As far as I'm aware he didn't do it when acting on behalf of the football club. Regardless of if you agree with him or not, people should be allowed to express their views on their own time.

I think our responses relate more to not wanting Palestinian flags being displayed in the ground as a sign of support for our potential new player. Nobody is denying that he is entitled to air his views in his own time.

It’s a factual headline. He has said something so that means he has spoken.

Can see why you have the word simple in your username.

Drastic lack of sense of humour on this site at times. No need to get personal of a profile name. But if you want to have an opinion of me personally being Simple that’s fine.
He’s just a footballer who’s making some comments.
As far as I’m concerned keep the politics out of sport. As per the original reference to a satirical film. He's not the messiah.

So he’s spoken?

Didn’t expect to answer questions about a headline

It's a witticism Worcester, not a dig at the headline. For what it's worth, the same train of thought crept into my head, being a huge Monty Python fan in days gone by.

As a side issue Paul Gascoigne has indicated that when he pops his clogs he would like to have on the full Newcastle United kit. Does that mean he will be buried in the Gazza Strip ?

Why can’t people be allowed to show their support for a Country being Slaughtered and 16,000 Children raped / beheaded /
Burnt alive and kidnapped?

Over 10,000 Palestinians kidnapped

40,000 Innocent Palestinians Slaughtered

AEG posted a statement about wanting to end the war in Gaza and protect children...

Although his suspension was lifted a few days later after he showed some "remorse," he later stated on social media that he did not "regret" his post and stood for "humanity."

Mainz subsequently said in a short post on social media that they "fail to understand and are surprised by El Ghazi's statement on his social media channels relating to the club". They then terminated his contract two days later.
El Ghazi's initial post, which has since been deleted, included the phrase "from the river to the sea," which can be viewed as incitement for the destruction of Israel and is potentially criminally prosecutable in Germany. The American Jewish Committee defines the phrase as antisemitic as it calls for the elimination of the Jewish state.
Long Live Palestine

A very old joke Monty but not meant to cause offence. More a play on words and not a comment on the political situation in Gaza.
