Tonight's team and I'm livid

Wed Jul 31, 2024 5:59 pm

..... what the hell Is Tan/Bulut playing at???? An appalling selection. Even on the bench. Davies? Torn a new a**ehole by Potters Bar. King? Ashford?

I've lost complete interest already.

Got a good mind to turn round and go home.

I know ill get sh*t for this, but I'm absolutely fuming.

The fact Rovers is Saturday? That Doesn't wash with me. This is the type of 'fitness' we need in the last few friendlies.

Should have played this behind closed doors if this was the side we were always gonna put out.

Davies and Rinhomota probably the only ones that won't feature for us this season.

What's the issue?

Well if you don't think there's an issue with that, then this season will be worse than last, and a very very long one.

I'll happily blame Bulut but don't tell me he would have picked such an awful side packed with sub standard kids for such an importantly TIMED friendly.

Until you can categorically say that the Imperial Leader has n̈o influence over the team selection even for friendlies, I'll stick with my opinion, and I know you will stick with yours.

Its pre season mate. Not the fa Cup final. Its squad rotation. Getting people minutes and fitness

What's your gripe with King and Ashford?

King deserves his chance and Ashford has proven he is good enough.

Don't agree with your post really.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these sort of pre season games aren’t about the fans. They can go if they want but there’s always a risk you won’t see a strong team.

It’s about fitness and a manager deciding who he wants to keep and who he wants to loan out.

Clearly he sees Saturday as the final preparation.

I went to Birmingham away in the Carabao Cup last season but didn’t kick up a fuss because it was a weak team.

Now you just sound ridiculous. I don't like Tan but Jesus you are clutching at any possible moment.

Why wouldn't he pick a mishmash of players it maybe behond your comprehension but pre season friendlies are to see players play use different systems play players in different way to normal... if bulut played a team you selected for him it wouldn't prove anything to him same if tan did it ... what's annoying is your very low opinion of bulut thinking tan is picking the team...

I will admit, I thought the same thing before the game kicked off tonight.

However, having watched the whole game, you can see Bulut is building the depth of the squad. To add to that, all the players have clearly been drilled to play out from the back, and ALL of them are comfortable.

alright, Reading are league 1. But, they’ve shown this pre-season and tonight that they have a very good, young squad. With exciting players.
We’ve beaten them comfortably, with a second string team.

Very impressed with Eli King tonight. Thought he was outstanding, and the 8 we are missing.

On another note, Bagan has played centre back all pre-season. I never, ever thought that Bagan could play centre back. But, not only is he playing there, he’s comfortable too.
Very impressed with Bagan this pre-season, and you can see Bulut is making sure we have depth.

Roath, perfectly accept that. I was in a bad mood going to the game and the team selection tipped me over edge.

As for King and Ashford, King didn't do to bad. Ashford a bit anonymous. My gripe is, when they all play together it's like a second string team.

Put the odd few kids with more senior pros and I'm OK with that, but playing them all together, when it's our last but one friendly, and our last at home was a big disappointment for me.

The fact we won doesn't really change that. A better team than Reading today would have hit 5 with the top chances they missed.

I understand your point, but I believe the timing of this game and it being our last home friendly should have seen more senior players get at least some minutes.

You can mix and match seniors and kids, but a near full kids team was a disappointment.

Allan, I won't disagree, and your post deserves respect, but do you not think that at this point in the friendlies, ie the penultimate game before it kicks off big time, that tactics, systems should have been fine tuned by now, and those who are preparing to play In the first game should be using those tactics for at least part of this game?

I hate to admit beneath my bad mood thatcertain players played better than expected, King being OK, and Bagan being OK. Of the others Davies looked way out of his depth despite a late surging second half run. Kpakio after his fine showing against against bryntirion looked a little more lost but didn't give up. A first team squad place for him this year is very much doubtful.

Rubin? What can I say. He'll have a good 15 minutes, but then he thinks he's Lionel Messi, with links and tricks that don't come off, and he needs to learn not to be so greedy on the ball when we are in good positions.

I think they'll do this for around an hour of the Bristol game. Thibk Willox will have a 30 mins or so and possibly start v Sunderland; Same for Kanga. O'dowda to start with Tanner replacing him on the hour. COD to start v Sunderland. All my opinion of course :bluescarf:

Your possibly right about being fine tuned but with due respect how many played tonight will start against Sunderland and bulut still needs to run rule over players because some youngsters have improved enough to play if required from bench ! Did you know Robertson... began.... and Colwill played in different way to their normal positions tonight so these games as I said are just for such things despite whether we think bulut should known by now where they're best positions are? Playing rambo and other 1st choice players tonight wouldn’t show anything bulut doesn't already know
So better to keep experimenting while he can.... if Tan picked team he got it right as we won!
