Stoke have beaten off Blackburn for the signing of Ryan Wintle

Stoke and Blackburn grappling over Wintle, which likely means the Bluebirds are likely to recoop their initial £200k-plus paid to Crewe and be in profit, plus shedding almost £13k per week on the midfielder.

Next out of the door should be Andy Rinamohta, whilst better than Wintle, won't get near the first team now - especially with another eight coming in.

The exit of Rinamohta will shed another £12,500 off the wage roll - £1.32m slashed from the duo's wages.

For once we are potentially getting in decent money from sales and playing more hardball with clubs.

Gone must be the days Cardiff City sell players for underneath the market value and are seen by other clubs as a soft touch in business.

People moan about signing free agents (or players with very little fees) every season and to some extent I do agree, but I also can see that it means we are more likely to get a bit for them if/when they leave

It wont be mega bucks but every little helps which obviously includes wages

Adams, Wintle and Rinomhota are deemed not good enough and if we can get a fee for all 3 after they were free agent signings for us then happy days

Wintle wasn’t a free agent. We signed him from Crewe for a small fee.

I think it’s the right decision to let Wintle go, hopefully we get back what we paid for him (not a lot).

Did a good job at times but is too defensive for the way we want to be playing this season.

Still expected that we’ll sign another midfielder so he would be way down the pecking order with us.

Wintle was a free agent and over 24 so he was a free transfer. Obviously wages and signing on fee may have been higher.

I think he could still do a job. He’s better than Rino.

I stand corrected, thought we paid a fee for some reason :thumbright:

A free is never a free really. We would have paid a higher signing on fee.

Bold opinion but easily the worst player I’ve seen play for us who had a substantial amount of games for us, cruel to watch.

I could name many more who were worse than him easily

Utterly incapable of transitioning play which is kind of what you need from a centre midfielder, would have fit in perfectly in the Jacks’ team under Russell Martin though, all he’d need to do is make the same piss easy backwards pass over and over.

Sounds like astounding and misplaced arrogance that he fell out with Erol over playing time.

I will give him credit however that he did look pretty capable under Morison playing as a sitting midfielder not having to do much.

How many seasons is that based on?

A decent player going to a club who the bookies feel is going to do more than us, so don't get the vitriol.

The midfield is so depressingly similar we had to shed players. Adams did himself and us a favour and whatever we make on WIntle we are going to lose on Rinomhota.

Its the lack of vision and strategy that any vitriol should be aimed at. We had a whole unit of grafters with little flair or attacking intent, none of them was better at it than Ralls either.

I think Wintle is a great continuity player and if the team is set up for possession then he will do well. We pretended to be a possession team.
He is an English "6", never going to set the world alight but I never thought we were ever set up for it. I think Bulut wants 2 "8"'s as he is never that adventurous with the back four so the CM's are terriers that can pass the ball forward rather than retain possession at all costs.

If rihnomota is going then why has he been playing in every friendly so far ?
Maybe bulut is keeping him

He’s still here. Perhaps we’re waiting for replacements before letting him leave????
