City midfielder Joel Colwill has joined Cheltenham Town on loan for the 2024/25 season, subject to international clearance.
The 19-year-old made five competitive appearances for the Bluebirds last season, and has scored twice for City during our pre-season fixtures this summer.
Joel will now link up with the Robins for their 2024/25 Sky Bet League Two campaign, who have former Newport County boss Michael Flynn in the dugout.
We'd like to wish Joel all the very best whilst out on loan.

Great move rather than 10 mins here and there.

I know it’s the best move for him and not a million miles from home for him, games!!! But would have loved to have seen him have a breakthrough with us this season I have liked very much what I have seen from him. Hopefully he will return a better more experienced street wise player for next term. Good luck young Colwill!

I think will be Eli King's breakout year, then Joel next year ....... Exciting times

With us signing Robertson in midfield and the likelihood of Ramsey playing in a slightly different position, he would never have got into our team.
Wouldn’t be fair on him to not give him any first team football.
Hopefully he plays 35 odd games and that would do him the world of good in terms of his progress.

Good opportunity to get some minutes in the football league. Hopefully gets much needed experience!

Much better than sitting in our U21s or in the Welsh league, good luck to the lad & hopefully he comes back better for it.

I am shocked but happy that we have sent him out to a League Club in the English set up and not to a Welsh league team or Scottish team
More of this and we will then be able to see properly where are youngsters are at ability wise
Good luck Joel

Good luck Joel!
Don't think it will take him long to stand out in that league. Will do him the world of good.
Well done to the club too for recognising that this is best for his development.
Some good decisions being made by the CCFC lately...feel good factor is starting to return for me!!!

Good move for Joel.
Won't get in the team here and better than playing U21.
Let's hope he kicks on during the season.

Having watched the bulk of our under 21 games last year, personally I think Joel is probably our most promising youngster
A full season in Division 2 and I fully expect him to be a regular in our squad next season
Eli King is the one who needs to breakthrough this season

Agreed.
King has shown he's a good footballer. What level he is is yet to be proven.
I want to see him given time in the championship, at least we know then.

Agree. King have done well on loan at both teams last season. So some proper first team games needed to gauge a level of where he is in terms of a championship player

Personally, I believe Joel is even better than Rubin.
He’s 19 and should have been part of our Championship squad this season.
Cheltenham league 2, he’s worth at least a club like Barnsley trying for the Championship.
He’s excellent already.

Played over an hour for them in a friendly today.
Sounds like he did well, going by what Cheltenham fans are saying.

Agree I think he will come back and go straight into our squad too good for league 2 .
