I warned all of last season on here that West Brom had to be promoted or they’d be in trouble, because of the money they had spent.

This ruling by the EFL means that West Brom can’t spend transfer fees, signing on fees or wages that the EFL don’t approve of because they don’t believe it’s correct financially.

So they can still bring in players but it is a big issue for them. They’ve just had to let Townsend go for a cut price deal to Ipswich.

Things like this should stand as a big warning to the likes of Hull.

Could raid a player or two before the window if they are desperate to balance the books

They still owe clubs for transfers, looks like they will have a fire sale .
