Alex Robertson is a Bluebird, everything completed:
Alex Robertson is undergoing his medical currently ahead of a move to Cardiff City. Robertson has chosen Cardiff over multiple Championship rivals
Deal could reach up to £3m.
Updated:
Deal has been done and agreed with Club and Robertson.
It’s a permanent deal.
Alex Robertson signing for Cardiff City after the Bluebirds agreed a deal with Manchester City for the 21-year-old midfielder.
Medical early next week and he will be officially announced well before the Sunderland game.
Great signing in my view
23 appearances for Portsmouth last season and 1 goal last season in League 1
Manchester City 0 appearances
Highly thought of by Portsmouth and Cardiff have beaten Portsmouth for his Signature.

This is for certain this time

Medical tomorrow prior to the official announcement on Tuesday.
Portsmouth saying they were still in for the Aussie international was rubbish. Pompey could not compete with the Bluebirds financially.
Cardiff have paid over £1mill to EPL Champions Man City for the 21-year-old in a deal that could rise to £3m.
A centre midfielder who possesses the ability to turn sharply and whose natural movement is forward.
A terrific signing.

Yes, indeed; Robertson, Rambo and a fit El Ghazi will be key to the season, I think…!

Excellent news...a central midfielder with some attacking intent, cannot wait to see him play!!!

Brilliant signing.
I still feel we need that striker that has been missing though.

Kanga needs more than 20 minutes before people write him off

Agree with that, even more so when you consider he’s only had a few training sessions with the team.
Expect we will get a loan striker now that Davies is out for so long.
Robertson is a top signing.

Has anyone seen this lad play?
First of all I’m very welcoming of any new players and always want them to succeed, but I’m curious to read some quotes from above “Brilliant, fantastic +top signing”.
Sounds a talented youngster.

Glad he is here but it sounded like he wanted to go back to portsmouth more than come to cardiff.

Not sure we can take at face value now what has been coming out of Portsmouth. They’ve been saying the last week that he could still sign for them when we now know they never really had a chance.

They said they could not match cardiff on transfer but my point was he wanted to go back pompey.

That’s what they are saying but we don’t know if it’s true.
If he wanted to go there so much, he would have turned us down.
The more I think about it, I think he’s happy to be joining us. Knows he has a better chance of a successful season with us.

How do you know?
Another way you could look at it is that agents and clubs were negotiating fees, wages etc.

Thank you Ned

Well so wud any other player want to stay at their last club if they were happy there , that’s just a normal choice , but I’m sure he will fit in quite quick , seems to be a great team spirit rite now , wat a great signing , thank you for all these signings so far , could be all worth it come next may

If this is true then it’s a top signing.
Saw Pompey play a few times last season being based down south with the Army. He was a cut above in the games I saw.
Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:46 pm
Pompey need to be asking why their boomerang didn’t come back

Correct, Andrew; Nat Phillips said he would be ‘happy’ to come back to the Bluebirds but it never meant it ‘would’ happen. Players build a ‘bond’ with their club’s supporters and that’s a good sign of how they are perceived. I’m looking forward to seeing Robertson play and become a much loved Bluebird going forward…

Think it shows the difference in finances of championship and div 1? His fee is rumoured to be 1.5m leading to 3m with sell on clause? That total is not much in grand scheme of things yet they can't seem
to afford it strange Considering their fan base and rich owner ..

Well I'm sure Bulut would have told him he would most probably be playing alongside Ramsey which should be a no brainer for any up and coming promising youngster to sign for us.

Add el ghazi in mix and it shows we are serious about getting promoted which helps to.

Agree - Kanga should start but we need another as back up or share the game time with Kanga .
We are even thinner on the ground in that department .

If he is half as good as his fellow countryman and Bluebird - Adrian Alston, He will be great for us.
Good luck to the lad at 21 world is your oyster

Even after just one season, he is still my favourite ever Bluebird, closely followed by Whitts

Alston and Evans - what a front two.
Great memories.
