Aaron Ramsey is excited by Cardiff City's new additions and believes his old Arsenal team-mates will slot in seamlessly as the club try to alter their style of play.
Ramsey is back fit and healthy after a nightmarish return to his boyhood club saw an injury wreck his season. Cardiff as a whole improved, though, finishing 12th in the table after back-to-back relegation battles.
But now they are looking to go one further this year and the change in pre-season has been there for all to see. The pressing is far more evident higher up the pitch and, in possession, the style of play appears to be more controlled and cohesive, with the interplay and cohesion between players having really improved this summer.
And Ramsey believes this new, more "aggressive" style — with a sprinkle of "the Arsenal way" — will serve to aid City's ambitions of pushing up the table.
"In general pre-season has gone really well. We have worked really hard and you can see some of the things coming off. Having a win before the season starts is always pretty nice," he said after scoring a stunner in the 2-0 friendly win over Bristol Rovers.
"It's been good. We have had a decent blow (out) and hopefully it's put us in a good place now because we are trying to be more aggressive and win the ball higher up the pitch. It's been as good as a pre-season could have gone.
"Having that block of work that we've had, you have got that time to progress and improve that side of things. Now the real work starts next week!
"I know [Calum Chambers and Chris Willock] from my time at Arsenal. I played with Calum for many years and Chris a few times as well. I know them pretty well and I know their qualities. And, you know, the Arsenal way, linking up, little, intricate passes and pass moves, that sort of thing. So, yeah, I enjoyed playing with those two today and hopefully they can help us a lot this season."
One thing is for sure, Ramsey wants a starring role this term.
It all started so well for the Wales captain last year. A thunderbolt against Leicester City, a penalty in the derby win over Swansea, it all seemed to be coming together.
But a "freak" knee injury, as he puts it, ultimately curtailed his season. He never fully recovered after those first six games and he was reduced to just a handful of largely cameo appearances thereafter.
Ask anyone at Cardiff, though, and they will tell you he has put in some serious hours in the gym during pre-season and looks far more robust this summer. He hopes that will stand him in good stead this term, because he wants to have a big influence in the coming months.
"I've worked hard in the off-season and in pre-season and now it's nearly here. I can't wait to get going and to hopefully have a great season and one we can all remember," he added.

Barring the triple injury blow revealed by Bulut after the game, pre-season has gone relatively smoothly after the manager was tied down to a two-year deal. Ramsey believes it has afforded the club a solid platform on which to build this term.
"Everyone is a lot more comfortable and familiar with the staff that have come in and now we are really trying to work on a style of play. These things don't happen overnight.
"Last year we took a step forward and we need to build on that and you can see that we have tried to do that in pre-season, with the new faces, some real quality, and I think the squad is in a good place."

Said last season he was unfortunate to get injured and he's not as injury prone as was suggested ..... said earlier he looked robust in friendly a fit Rambo will make city a lot stronger going forward whilst putting a lot teams on back foot with looking out for him.

Allan, a fully fit Ramsey who plays 30+ games improves our chances of having a good season massively.
I honestly think Ramsey, El Ghazi and Willock will be brilliant for us.
It’s all about keeping Ramsey fit.
