Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to welcome Alex Robertson to the Welsh capital.

The midfielder, who joins from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee and subject to international clearance, has signed a four-year contract with the Bluebirds.

A connection with the Bluebirds was there from a young age for the 21-year-old. Alex’s uncle is former City fans favourite, Gavin Rae, who spent four-years in the capital city between 2007-11. Alex fondly remembers running around in City blue as a child while supporting Rae.

“He's told me a lot of good things about the city and the Club,” said Robertson after signing his agreement at CCS. “Going forward in my career now, this feels like the right place to be. I'm buzzing. It's been a few weeks coming. I'm so glad it is over the line.

“City have built a great squad for the upcoming season now and I want to be a part of that. The Gaffer told me the way he likes to play and what he expects from his players. I feel I can learn a lot from him and the more senior players in our squad. I'm ready to go. I've got stronger over the last few months.”

City boss Erol Bulut added: “We're delighted Alex is here. There were six other Clubs that were in for him, which shows what a talent he is. We had a meeting 10 days ago and explained our goals for the Club and for Alex. Our hopes and plans were aligned.

“Alex can deliver a lot. He's got quality. He’s technically very good with a great work rate and can add to what we already have. We now have a great mix of youth and experience in the midfield.”

Annis, apart from obvious quality he has the 4 year contract is a huge statement from the club. Finally we are tying YOUNG players down to long contracts.

Robertson must be highly rated as not have we given him 4 yrs we finally paid for a player and Man City have played hard with the contract and sell on.

I still do not understand Kieron Evans / Tom Davies New Contracts???

Bulut is getting what he wanted , NO EXCUSES FROM HIM THIS SEASON / MIN TOP 6.

Whilst top 6 is now a realistic aim as we know nothing is garaunteed in football but at least got a fighting chance to achieve it.

I know we lose some younger players too Manchester City but I guess working with them has its benefits when things like this crop up

Much better than the reported 60% sell on fee that we saw.

Good business. Siopis, Robertson, Rambo, Ralls, King, Colwill, Turnbull -strong midfield without counting the wingers.

I’d be happy with bench Saturday, I was thinking he’d be getting fit for 2-3 weeks.

I would like to see all our new signings ready for the jerks away....
