1st Welsh protest this weekend

Wed Aug 07, 2024 3:24 pm

In Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

Had a message in work saying not to come into Cardiff city centre where our office is based because the EDL are staging a protest this Friday. Just a heads up for those going into the city for then.

interesting to see the contrasting approaches by Swansea police to their riot, and Cardiff police to that Ely riot last year - the Swansea thing went on for ages and attacked locals with violence and destruction of cars and property whilst the police stood as bystanders at the bottom the hill.

In Ely, Cardiff police went in with helicopter, dogs, horses and riot squads and sorted it.

Cardiff police have not been perfect over the years, obviously - but frankly they did a much better job than their SWP colleagues down West.

Why are the EDL coming to Wales?

Just from what I was told and can now see they are trying it here in a recent Google search.

I’ve seen that apparently they’re looking to do Cardiff on Friday?

It’s in my mind to attend to tell them to piss off.

It's not the EDL, it doesn't exist anymore. Any group protesting are instantly labelled EDL or far right.

As long as they do so peacefully then let them get on with it. I don’t agree with their beliefs, but they do have the right to protest.

But if it’s like the violent action there’s been in England over the last week or so (and by certain climate change activists recently to be fair), then I hope the authorities have the numbers to control it.

Yep that's the media for you and today's tree hugging, snowflake types, that's all they can spin off. Anyone who' is standing up to anything these days in a protest is deemed a racist and far right it's cringeworthy tbh

That was what I was told, I didn't think they did either. Probably some variant or spiritual successor lives on today I would imagine.

My wife is foreign and her parents had to ask is it safe to come?

It’s so embarrassing that the world is watching how racist it’s getting here. Pathetic bellends causing unnecessary violence.

I get your point but I suppose it depends how they are acting and what they’re shouting.

Could cause massive disruption, especially with the sold out Billy Joel Concert at the principality stadium.

So what about the Labour party politician calling for anti immigration protesters to have their throats cut at the Walthamstow rally last night. Incitement to murder and by the current measure at least 15 years would be proportionate. And the hundreds that cheered in support of those beliefs. Lets have them hunted down and in the dock as well.

I'm all for tough policing and tough justice but they've set a standard for violent demonstrations going forward. With the situation deteriorating in the middle east there could be an awful lot more people in prison by xmas.

He’s been suspended and may face charges.

As for tough policing, just look at how peaceful the much bigger anti-fascist protests were compared to the right wing/fascist protests. Nothing looted, minimal arrests just the power of the majority.

Time for the knuckle draggers to go back to their caves, although I am looking forward to the evening anti-rascist demo in Cardiff tomorrow. Let’s see how these people react to being outnumbered like they tried to out number the innocent minority communities elsewhere.

It’s not racist, the pretend leftwangers keep talking about black and Muslim families not feeling safe, colour of skin isn’t the issue, it’s the Islamification of the country. By conflating two separate things it’s easier to demonise people with legitimate concerns.

So all those people attacked last week were targeted due to their beliefs (which all the knuckle draggers know individually obviously) and not because of the colour of their skin? Bullshit

According to the latest, the ‘protests’ today are due to start near (not at) the Utility Arena (former Motorpoint Arena) at 1pm

Another ‘anti-facist’ one is scheduled for Saturday but this is the same group that have gathered in Cardiff weekly for some time now

Cardiff centre going to be busy with the Billy Joel concert at the Principality Stadium, so expect delays and possible restrictions to be the order of the day

The Westminster Protest was attended by Black, White, Hindu and Sikhs, it was mainly peaceful despite the Met kettling people for absolutely nothing. The issue for those attending was mass migration, particularly those entering the country illegally. When were black people attacked, I’m not trying to deny it happened just that I’ve saw no evidence of it. The rioting was disgraceful , particularly in Southport, and served no purpose, other than to deflect attention from the issue, which is mass migration. Undoubtedly there were extreme Rightwingers at many of the riots that followed the Westminster protest but they were in a minority, do you think the 1/4 wit who nicked a tray of steakbakes from Greggs spends his free time reading the thoughts of Benito Mussolini?
