Could sports be cancelled on the weekend?

With all the planned protest over the weekend could all major sporting events get cancelled on the weekend if the police can't cover them?

This was asked earlier in the week but I can’t see it if I’m honest.

There may be a couple of games off, but not a huge amount.

Our game will be alright.

Not sure there's any games that need high police presence so can't see it happening.... but good thought though

They may be some but doubt it will be ours.

Ours is all I care about.

No way.
If they did they’d deffo have a problem with footy fans possibly joking the matches. Think they’d have done it by now if it was going to happen.

I think people will look at those sentences handed out and have a rethink.

No real iproblems this evening. Counter protestors turn out in force and ‘handfuls’ of protesters seek cover behind police. This seems to be the case reported in most cities Poor weather and stiff sentences earlier seems to be a deterrent.

Same as 2011, although this has obviously seen more disruption.

But in 2011, as soon as the tough sentences were imposed it started to die down and then just stop.

Things like this often both start and stop very quickly.

The show must go on - The start of the football season will go ahead unless something major happens in the next 24 hrs...
