Thursday 8th August 2024

Erol Bulut:

Ramsey?

First of all - Aaron, he had a hard summer. He didn’t go for holidays. He wanted to prepare himself. He wanted to prepare himself for this season to have more games for Cardiff. I hope for him to be more on the field, longer on the field than last season, to be healthy for this season.

Erol Bulut

Erol Bulut’s 2nd season in charge of Cardiff City

Bulut has brought in 5 New Players

Chris Willock

Callum Chambers

Wilfred Kanga

Anwar El Ghazi

Alex Robertson ( Deal worth £1mill)

Erol Bulut has released 10 players including loans and wants to move out more.
Bulut has also Sold Ebu Adams in a deal with £800,000.

Bulut still wants to bring in 2 more players

What is realistic this year?

Last season, I am more experienced from that. I won’t mention a position! We will try to push to the best we can do.”

“I have said previously top two, but I would rather see where the season takes us.”

Erol Bulut

Pleased with business?

We did really good things. The market is not easy, many teams were pushing for the same players. The board, recruitment, we got some players other teams were targeting. Still we are not finished.

Some players came late and are not ready yet to start. But when they are really settled in then we can see that the team, with the playing style, the level, the quality we have got in, is much better.

Erol Bulut

Not finished?

We tried to strengthen the team. Until the transfer market finished, we try to get quality in for Cardiff City. Two or three players, there can be.

When the market gets closer to the end it’s not easy, it gets tighter, fewer players on the market. We are focusing on players, we are negotiating. We also have players who get offers, let’s see what we can do.

EROL BULUT:

Hopes for new season?

We had six really good weeks with the team. We are working really hard. We had good friendly games and every game we added on our game. Last game against Bristol Rovers was really good. It’s always important to have wins before the league starts - for atmosphere and confidence of the team. It’s important. Until now, everything is good - but when the Championship starts it’s different and we have a tough opponent. I think my players will be ready.

Re: EROL BULUT:

Contract settled, stability, how important is that?

I think it’s very important for the club first of all. For a manager, too. You try to build something, last season was a season with many small problems because we had an embargo with transfers, only loan players. It's not easy, but we did a great job. We finished in a comfortable position in 12th. It could have been eighth or ninth.

In the last weeks, the teams who got promoted even lost. The last weeks are a little bit less in terms of concentration or stress. But in general we had a really good season. Last year we tried to prepare and build. This season we try to add on it. We are on a good way.

The system we have tried to build, the players know more clearly what we want and what we are expecting from them. On Saturday we now have to deliver the performance fans are expecting.

Transfers in:

7th August 2024:

Cardiff City Sign Alex Robertson from Manchester City ( Zero appearances) / played for Portsmouth 23 times in League 1.

The midfielder has signed a four-year deal at Cardiff City Stadium in an initial deal worth just shy of £1m, which could potentially treble if all add-on criteria is met. It is understood the deal includes a sell-on clause, which would see Man City received around 25% of any future sale of the player.

31st July 2024:
The signing of Anwar El Ghazi
The winger has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with the Bluebirds.
Anwar has enjoyed a stellar playing career, starring for Ajax, Lille, Aston Villa, Everton and PSV. He also has Championship experience, winning promotion with Villa during the 2018/19 season, scoring in the Play-Off final victory over Derby County. The 29-year-old has two Netherlands international caps to his name.

30th July 2024:
Striker Wilfred Kanga / Terms agreed with Berlin, a season long loan.
Aged 26
8 previous clubs
Berlin 23 appearances 2 goals / Standard Liege 36 appearances 12 goals

13th July 2024: Callum Chambers is a Cardiff City player after being released by Aston Villa.
Became a free agent.
3 year contract. Villa said he could go in January, Bulut wanted him, but things did not happen behind the scenes, but today Chambefmrs became a Bluebird.

12th July: Chris Willock deal is done, now a Cardiff City player and signed a 3 year deal.
Signed as Free Agent after his contract expired at QPR
26 year old Winger

McGuinness. - Luton links

I think about this we don’t have to speak so much. It is normal he gets offers. Great player. Great defender. Only 23. He can add much more quality. It’s the reason clubs are interested in him. But we have to get the value we are targeting for. Otherwise no player will move. Players signed new contracts. He still has three more years. Until he leaves he is still part of the Cardiff City family.

Will decision be out of your hands?

We have the conversation with the board and they manage it but they ask me too. We don’t have to panic. If the value comes in, then we can go on, because we have to look forward if a transfer like this happens.

Erol Bulut:

Alex Robertson, happy to have a player of his quality in?

He is a good player, still 21. He played in League One and had a good season until he got an injury. We will try to use him a lot to help the team.

With his quality, we don’t need to talk. He can help us in the offensive part.He can help us with his passing and scoring.

For now, he is not fit enough to start. There are 46 games plus cup games. Every player has to be ready when they get minutes from the start.

Home form?

Of course, the home form, everyone is targeting to have more wins at home, but when we see last season, we had nine or 10, away nearly the same. It could be better. We had many games we could win, but we conceded goals.

Our target is to have more wins at home. To have aggressive football at home. But game by game, it changes. It depends against which team you play against.

Ramsey and O’Dowda back…

Even last season we started well with Ramsey and O’Dowda. It was really good and then they got injured, out for four months. They are really important players for Cardiff City. If we had them in last season we could maybe have made better (position). It might be a good possibility we get some more points.

This comes across as though he’s resigned to let mcguiness go ?

Re: BREAKING EROL BULUT UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS 08/08/202

All very positive.

Bulut has high targets.

Confirms that the style will be better.

Pleased with the new signings and more to come.

No more injury problems.

Ramsey ready for the season.

As I said, Robertson not yet available to start - will be on the bench and I expect him to come on.

McGuinness will only be sold at the right price, we don’t have to sell.

Looking forward to Saturday :bluebird:

That’s my point, if the right price is offered then he is resigned to letting him go, which I get. Hopefully our price is different to that of other clubs who are looking at him.

All very positive regarding everything else.

Joel Bagan 23 years old

Eli King 22 years old in a few months.

My View:

If they are going to make it’s now or move them out for good.

Yes they’ve impressed but at lower levels.

Their age they should have made it now.

Totally agree, 22 or 23 years old - they're either good enough for the Championship or they're not. The manager needs to make a decision on this rather than keep shipping them out on loan. If they go out again, they're not going to make it in the Championship.

Hasn’t been consistently starting games so should go?

Maybe it would do him (Rubin) good to try somewhere else. Definitely an on the fence player for me, doesn't seem to have much in the way of end product but there is something there & just maybe the right coach can bring it out of him.

Ruben has been involved in more matches over the past couple of seasons than Bagan etc.

I think Annis made a good point - this Robertson lad is 21 and he will go straight into the first team when ready.

Surely by now, our coaches should know whether Bagan et al can cut it consistently at this level?

Not sure on Bagan but would keep King as back up. Siopis and Robertson will be the first choice.

But my point is that our fans consistently have blinkers on when it comes to Colwill.

If he wasn’t an academy player, everyone would be saying we should get rid of him.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

I stand by my view that in the Championship we should at least attempt to play on the front foot in every home match. For me, the supporters expect that.

More often than not, we got caught out at the back because our defenders had too much of the ball for too long and our inverted wingers / forward / no.10 could not keep hold of the ball for more than 2 or 3 passes - the wingers tried to cut inside and ended up getting nowhere, passing the ball back to the CDM or full back for the ball to be recycled again and again - all that put extra pressure on our defence!

You counteract that by playing more positive, incisive football with a goal threat.

No I agree we do need to play a more progressive style which we did until rambo and o'dowda got injured ! We need to play that way and not the defensive minded play after that, but I don't expect us to be defensive judging by players brought in... but not attack whilst neglecting defensive responsibilities.

Thats how I read it. But overall positive conference and rightly so with the players signed. And hopefully a striker still to come in
