Erol Bulut:
"Today against Sunderland, who are a tough team, all that we were missing was the goal."
“We have been improvised from last season and dominated the game.”
“I can see we are already improving and I see only positive’s after today.”
"But today we can speak more about positive things than negative. It's one of 46 games. Our details, our mistakes, we have to work on it. Free-kicks, corner kicks, also offensively with the ball, we have to finalise better. But we take all the positives to the next game.”
"Last season was something what we tried to build on and now we are trying to add quality and speed. How you saw today against Sunderland, we had the ball percentage more than the opponent. This we'll try to do more this season but we also have to score goals. This will come. I see the positives. today we created, in the coming weeks the goals will come.
"Wilfried Kanga came late so he's not really fit. (Chris) Willock needs games to be ready, (Anwar) El Ghazi still needs a few weeks. If we have them all in then I think I will be more positive."

Totally agree.
That was almost last years team out there today and the positive football was nothing like the negative crap we served up last year.
El Ghazi fit, a couple more signings, including a centre forward and we’ll have a real go.
Thought the centre midfield three were excellent, really wanted to take the game to them

Good post.
I thought the 3 in the middle did well. I'm presuming it'll be Ralls making way for Robertson
Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:52 pm
Yep, none of them will play 46 games so they’ll all be interchanging throughout the season. Excited to see Robertson play
Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:06 pm
Lost 2 nil at home , no goals
I can’t see anything positive about that .
This guy is clueless, I said ir numerous times last season , I won’t mention it again .
Have a nice weekend everyone

Can’t argue with the result.
Just think that our approach was a lot more positive than last year.

I’ve defended the performance today but I do have a problem with Bulut’s comments there.
Why? Because I’ve heard this press conference before, after every defeat last season.
What he said was good enough for then, but not now. He is in his second season, but he is still comparing things to last season. He needs to just focus on talking about the performance without referring to where we were last season.
I stick up for Bulut and as I say, have defended today’s performance, but the reality is the pressure will build on him if he doesn’t get results soon - the expectations are higher now, only avoiding relegation is not the target.
Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:59 pm
Agree, and he needs to feel pressure now, he has to deliver.
Honestly think we’ve got a top drawer centre forward coming at the end of the window.
Tan always does it, moans like f**k about everything then sanctions a money move at the end of the window.
Just hoping we haven’t lost our first 5 games by then, we’ve got a nightmare start to the season fixture wise

I'm more annoyed we sign players who are not fit or not ready to play or better still they don't start even if they are fit. Just don't get that tostart with. Sign better than what we got and can play first games otherwise what's the point. Although we always leave it late signing players so thats why im guessing.

Our central midfield today was way off the pace.
Ramsey had a howler, and the combination of Ralls/Siopis shouldn’t be playing together. Both are a hazard when on the ball. Today was Bulut ball at its finest.

I spoke with erol tonight for few mins i had picture with him but don' t know how to put on here i said sbout tanner kept turnung back and imo had a poor game he agreed and said the new winger we have who is not ready will be with us soon.

That’s El Ghazi, mate. He’ll be ready after the international break.

It’s amazing how we all see things differently.
I thought the three of them were excellent, and the problems were elsewhere. On a different day we’d have scored a hat full

Ramsey was shocking, mate. A passenger in the first half along with a few others. O’Dowda was excellent. Willock as good (not great). The double defensive midfield pairing needs to be scrapped at home.
Sat Aug 10, 2024 8:54 pm
I thought Ramsey was everywhere.
Not sure that we actually did play 2 holding midfielders, they were all pressing as far as I could see.
We lost though, so there’s definitely issues there, but I think it’s was more the fact that the crosses were awful and we didn’t look as if we’d score if we were there all night

I think this was a one-off for the Siopis/Ralls midfield. Robertson will clearly be first choice, I expect coming in for Ralls, and he is a proper box to box midfielder.
I agree that Ramsey wasn’t at his best but you’re not allowed to say that. Last season there was a game where I criticised his performance and was torn apart on here for having the nerve to say he didn’t play well.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say he was shocking, but there were a number of misplaced passes and poor crosses.

In fact I thought he was doing too much, I’d prefer he did 60 minutes every week so he could play more games, and Colwill would finish every last half hour for him

Did you notice Ramsey and Bulut having words at full time? Ramsey was clearly frustrated today.
Sat Aug 10, 2024 9:30 pm
He played a ball to Tanner who completely lost it and looked straight at Bulut as if to say ‘seriously?’
Sat Aug 10, 2024 9:45 pm
I saw plenty of positives too....
Sat Aug 10, 2024 9:55 pm
Erol you need to lay off the raki old son.
That was the same load of bollocks as last season.
And yet another defeat by at least two goals.
Try signing some players with pace who can go straight into the starting eleven and improve it now, not in a month or two's time.

I love Ramsey - but today he had an absolute shocker. Should have been subbed off.

It’s Deja Vu. I have heard the same post match comments so many times. I’m gutted, I was hoping for something different, something to give me some faith in this manager as I have never been a fan. It’s the same team, same tactic, same issues. I hate an isolated striker. I hate unforced errors and regular misplaced passes. I hate wasteful delivery and poor crosses. I hate watching a team that never really look like scoring more than one goal. I hate predictability. All of these are Bulut ball symptoms still not fixed. Whilst there was less of the side to side backwards passing, and the non press of last season was better but still not great I fear for the next 6 games. The Rotherham game feels fresh in my mind again. As for the midfield, an improvement in some areas, same old issues as last season in others. Not good enough. Willock yes, El Ghazi no should have signed someone fit and raring . Winning mentality is everything.

We had quite a team with the loans last season.
We played well against Leeds / Leicester etc but could not win
This time it was Sunderland.
It’s one game, I will judge Bulut after 12 games like I always do.
But I can’t forget how we were in our games at the end of last season, worse than awful.
