The Highlights - Not Pretty Viewing for NG

Interesting that NG hasn't had any bad press yesterday. Both goals he's like a statue.

Goal#1 - O'Dowda is in absolute no mans land. Goutas dragged to cover O'Dowda. Ball across, NG has lost his man and Robbo gives a half hearted track back but too late. Robbo shouldn't be that man.

Hovrath worldie save - O'Dowda lost again. No mans land again. What a save. Goutas' job is far more difficult covering LB aswell as his job.

Goal #2 - Definately a foul for me at the centre spot against Rubin, but we just back off and NG is just a statue. Far too easy. Great finish, but another poor one to concede.

I saw plenty of people calling Ng out yesterday for his performance.

He did look like a completely different player yesterday to the Ng who has arguably been our best player for the last 2 seasons.

Will we see Chambers playing RB with MM and Goutas at CB? It's an option.

I left the ground thinking NG had one of the better games. Some solid tackles/interceptions and making things happen when Miete came on.

A couple of days ago someone said that we should sell Ng and I replied that selling him would be crazy.

I’m still not saying we should sell him, but he was very poor yesterday.

Nowhere near his usual self and struggled in all aspects of his game.

For the first goal and for Horvath save, I agree. I do however disagree about Colwill being fouled. He should have been stronger. The ref, who I thought had a good game, was letting those tackles go all game and Colwill should have seen that from the bench.

I agree NG was a statue for the second, he really looked like he couldn't be bothered. But he wasn't the only one yesterday. A very poor start to the season.

O'Dowda run himself into the ground yesterday. He was the only one that tried to get forward with any real pace and intent.

Think you're being a bit unfair signalling him out like that, it's not his normal position either.

Ng has been poor in pre season too. His passing has particularly been poor....maybe he thought a big deal was coming his way. Hopefully just a blip and he will be back to best against Burnley

I've been consistent in saying a few things on this forum and get shouted down. For some reason people love old Robbo and Ng.

Ng - is a defensive liability, look at yesterday's goals, look at Swansea away last year and others through last season. He doesn't have the pace and hence doesn't get close enough to his man. Offers nothing going forward, no overlapping in a system that needs wingbacks not fullbacks. He is a league 1 gem.

Robbo - I will say it again, great player at his best, but he has no pace now. He is a league 1 striker.

I agree with everything you say here. He's a square peg in a round hole. He's a far better winger than defender. Not digging him out, just making observations.

Hard to argue with any of that, Ng has always looked suspect defensively and at fault for both goals again yesterday. It’s as if many look past these glaring errors because he has scored a few goals and does a few nice passes here and there.
I’ve never rated Robinson at any point of his career, there’s no doubting he has quality but he’s one of those players that hasn’t really got a specific position. He’s too slow to be a winger, too lazy to be a 10 and as a striker just can’t lead the line on his own.

I dont agree that NG needs to be replaced. He does more good than bad in my opinion and his impact on games is significant. I'd like to see him in Siopis' role though as I think he's got the game for it.

I think it's a balance and a decent left back gives Goutas less work.
