Referee yesterday

Sun Aug 11, 2024 4:01 pm

I thought he did alright, as standards in this league go.

Tried to let the game flow without blowing his whistle every 30 seconds.

A few people on here and fans in the stadium seemed to think we should have had a penalty. To be honest, all our penalty appeals seemed quite soft to me. Wouldn’t have been happy if they’d been given against us.

Colwill thought he was fouled before the goal but he just was strong enough when holding the ball up, so fell to the floor. Referee hadn’t been giving them all game and I didn’t think it was a foul either.

Spot on, definitely no foul or penalties. Ref was decent compared to many we have had.

I agree I thought the referee was good yesterday let a lot go for both sides playing good advantages. Yesterday I was in the Canton Stand disabled section as I recently broke my foot and fractured my knee so I was virtually at pitch level and had a very good view of what I thought was a certain penalty when Goutas was held and hauled down but the linesman who had an equally good view didn't signal to the referee who was probably unsighted. I thought that particular linesma' was awful and didn't seem to know what he was doing looking at the referee on a number of occasions to decide who should have a throw in! :old:

Absolutely right.

Linesmen do my head in though. The one on the Ninian side was shocking. Was waiting for the ref to decide on almost every throw in before raising his flag and the Meite incident where he signalled that the ball had gone out was a terrible decision.

Yeah the ball definitely didn't go out when Meite controlled it, a shocking decision.

The ref yesterday was very good and consistent throughout the game. Correct decisions for the penalty appeals and the Colwill incident before their second goal. The thing that annoyed me most about that was Colwill was sat on the bench watching the game and should have known the ref wouldn't give that as a foul. He needed to be stronger.

I hope we have more refs like him this season.

Colwill and Robinson fall over far too easily. The ref was excellent.
