Preston North End have parted company with manager Ryan Lowe after just one match of the Championship season.
Lowe has left the club following their 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United on Friday night.
The 45-year-old had been in charge at Deepdale since December 2021 when he joined from Plymouth.
But despite finishing in 13th, 12th and 10th, he has departed after discussions with the club’s board on Sunday.
His assistant Mike Marsh has been placed in interim charge for this week’s matches against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and away to Swansea City on Saturday.

That’s incredibly harsh.
Their club haven’t backed him and sacking him one game into the new season is ridiculous.

Yep ridiculous, it’s the modern football way I’m afraid.

Stupidity.
Let the guy take the full preseason, shape the squad, decide on the tactics and then sack him after one game with only a couple of weeks for any new man to get in players before the end of the transfer window.
Glad to see Ridsdale hasn't changed.
Have Preston fans paid for their 2028/29 season tickets yet?

This makes no sense at all give him a full pre season to make new signings and work with the team then sack him after 90 minutes of football
Riddler proving yet again that he is an idiot

Shocking.
Football is harsh these days and this is just one instance of it.

Terrible decision what do they expect? Improved league positions with very little backing...
Preston will struggle more now as I believe he was over achieving
They lost a key player in Brown to Sunderland too
