“ Job done tonight “

Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:36 pm

The objective of tonight was to get through as well as to give minutes to the new signings, younger players and fringe players.

We did all those things.

But there will be questions about the level of performance.

First half we were struggling to break down Bristol Rovers. There were some weak performances.

Our play was too slow and predictable.

Second half was much better and we deserved to win the tie.

Colwill MOTM, brilliant when he moved to number ten.

Good early signs from Robertson.

Was also impressed by Reindorf when he came on.

Rinomhota needs to leave, nowhere near good enough.

Very impressed with Reindorf. He didnt stop running. He was totally up for taking his opportunity tonight.

Woeful 1st half but much better in the 2nd half when we did everything quicker

Colwill is not a winger he has to play as a 10 completely different player through the middle

The young striker looks like he’s got something about him, the 2 academy full backs are decent prospects and King improved as the game went on

Robertson good debut

Rovers were dreadful so let’s not get carried away though

One thing I noticed was that like most of the game Saturday, out left winger (Wilock Saturday then Cowill in the first half) was coming inside constantly and our left back was essentially playing left wing.

We looked better when Cowill was playing in centre and our left mid was staying left mid. It allowed the right fullback to overlap more and made it more difficult to defend against.

Switching Colwill to his natural no. 10 position changed the game and the subs helped him a lot, especially Reindorf.

Never understand playing players out of position unless injuries force it.

I was not happy when I seen Rino name on team sheet, but I thought he did ok tonight.

He broke up the play, started a few attacks. Done the basics, didn’t do much wrong.

MOTM McGuiness didn’t put a foot wrong and good in the air. Needs back into our side.
Kanga had a few decent flicks to bring others into play and hold ups but I’m not sure if he’d find the net on today’s evidence. Reindort off the bench looked decent and did more.

Poor first half.
Rubin improved in the second half and deserved a goal for his efforts
Robertson looked good, one touch ur of his feet and then a positive pass. Was quicker on the ball than what we have.

Now I'm going against the grain here. I just don't see it with Colwill. He is always trying his flicks and tricks, which, on the occasion they come off, looks great, but more often than not he loses the ball.

I feel his work rate isn't good enough.

Rhino, whilst not the most gifted or talented, will always put In a shift. He was the only one trying to run at the Rovers defence in the first half.

I think Bagan is more suited to CB, Giles had a decent game against poor opposition, and Kpakio got better as the game went on.

King is growing on me. He is energetic and has a good first touch, but still he can lose concentration with a simple 10 yard pass.

This ended up being comfortable. After the first half showing it had penalties written all over it!
