Cardiff City are pressing ahead with their bids to fill key positions before the transfer window closes.
The Bluebirds have made five additions but want at least three more before the end of August. With only one signing coming from abroad so far this summer, it is understood Cardiff have registered interest in a couple of players abroad.
Given the level of interest in centre-back Mark McGuinness, it is understood Cardiff like Cercle Brugge centre-back Jesper Daland. The 24-year-old former Norway youth international has become a mainstay in the Belgian top flight since moving there from Norway in 2021 for a fee of around £1m
It is understood any move for Daland, who has less than a year left on his contract in Brugge, would command a transfer fee. He is yet to make his senior debut alongside Erling Haaland and Co for the senior Norwegian national team, but has been named on the bench on four occasions, most recently in March of this year.
Meanwhile, WalesOnline also understands Cardiff are among a number of clubs keen on DR Congo international Jackson Muleka. The striker, who can also play on the wing, is currently with Besiktas, however it is thought he will leave the club this summer.
Besiktas have already received offers from Saudi Arabia and Russia for the 24-year-old, who is thought to be strong, good in the air, a capable finisher and a threat on the counter-attack.
The Turkish club have thus far listened to loan offers with options to purchase next summer, with the forward's contract having another three years left to run.
Turkish press has reported in recent days that Muleka, who has 15 goals in 80 games for Besiktas, is unlikely to feature in the club's matchday squad against Antalyaspor on Sunday due to the amount of transfer interest surrounding him.
Muleka shot to prominence in his native Congo, netting 57 goals in 85 games before signing for Standard Liege, for whom he netted 15 times in 54 games. During his time in Belgium he was loaned out to Kasimpasa in Turkey in 2022, where he impressed with 12 goals and five assists in 14 games, catching the eye of giants Besiktas.
Besiktas paid Liege £3.5m for his services two years ago, but he spent much of last season as a bench option, starting just 18 league games – including the final five for which he was available. He scored nine goals last term, but featured predominantly out on the wing.
It has been stressed, however, that both Daland and Muleka are just two players on a shortlist of targets for each position.

I also saw this and my gut reaction was that we keep going for strikers who are also used to be playing as wingers.
Surely there's an out and out number 9 out there somewhere?

Not sure there is anymore? Most strikers seem to be versatile and play in way to suit them ...look at kane scores his goals from numerous areas yet he's a centre forward other good strikers the same ....what we want is one that got record of goalscoring regularly ..

15 in 80 isn't that
But I do agree somewhat, as long as they are in and around the box, and not told to play somewhere ridiculous like a lot of modern forwards are.

Need to be linked with at least 5 players able to go straight into the first team (right back, left back, centre half, midfielder, striker).
Personally I'd like to see us linked to a new manager.
