Cardiff City Old Boys

A late winner for Coventry tonight. Ciaran Brown and Mark Harris scoring for Oxford in their 3-2 defeat. Many good performances from ex Bluebirds across the EFL already.

I guess this opens the question of were they good enough all along?

Just not managed correctly?

Good enough to play in the Championship but not for a squad challenging for the top which where we aspire to be. Still think Will Vaulks is an awful player too demonstrated by his gift of a goal last night.

But we haven’t been challenging for the top and both failed. Badly with us as a mid table team??

Harris seems to be full of confidence and it is showing in his games as he is seen as teams main striker When at Cardiff he never seemed to have the confidence and always seemed to be playing not to make mistakes.
Still don’t think thou that we have made a mistake with him thou but good for the lad

I always wonder what has gone wrong at city.

Its not only Harris.

Rhys Healey went on to do good things in France, Bobby Glatzel banging them in back in Germany, Bobby Reid a premier league starter etc etc.

Is it the style of football? It is the service? Is it the coaching team? Is it that we aren't giving enough of a chance?

Style of play has not been great in that time For me we have not really played an attacking style of football since Dave Jones . Since then most managers we have had have set us up not to lose and hard to break down The problem with that is we have been easy to breakdown in most of that period. Chopra and Bothroyd would not do well in our current style of play

IMO Harris didn't fail Annis - he was played out of position or brought on as a sub late on to try and rescue games in a very poor team. Their top scorer in a promotion season and now 2 in 2 in the Championship...

I am sort of saying this, is it us ruining players?

Well, it seems to happen to so many of our players, and strikers in particular, for it to be a coincidence. Obviously the coaches don't set out to make players worse, but something is seriously wrong somewhere. Is it over coaching, training methods or something else - we don't know, but coupled with the amount of long term injuries we seem to get then it suggests that all is not well behind the scenes. I'm not just talking about Bulut's regime this has been going on for several years. Warnock managed to destroy Glatzel's confidence, but there are many examples of good players just not performing when they come to us.On top of that the football has been pretty dire ever since DJ left the club. It's a very worrying situation.
