TNS - Making it to the group stage?

Fri Aug 23, 2024 7:30 am

TNS are currently one game away from making it into the group/league stage of the conference league.

Apparently the first time a Welsh league club will have done it.

If they keep their lead next week (currently 3-0 up on agg) they will make it.

Good luck to them.

TNS originally had a fortune out in to them, despite virtually NO fans.

Now thanks to entering the Championship League every season, they have had £mills and are so far ahead of the rest of the Welsh League, it’s beyond and the gap is getting wider.

If they get through to the Group Stages, that is beyond massive for a club like them and the money is beyond.

Agree entirely. If they qualify for the conference league they may earn more this year than the rest of the league together !! This will enable them to further strengthen and dominate. It has skewed the Welsh League completely and is preventing fair competition and ruining it. Its all down to one rich businessman providing initial support to a small club - good luck to him-and being able to take advantage of the collapse of Barry Town.

Ironically as the club now play in England, both the FA and UEFA were originally against them representing Wales but the Welsh FA supported them. I think they may be regretting that decision now, but there is no going back

This is why some solution needs to be found to enable Welsh clubs to continue to play in England but to also represent Wales, in Europe, by winning Welsh Competitions.

That cannot happen, the benefit to Welsh clubs, especially the English League clubs, is massive.

For example, us playing in the Championship and potentially a Europe competition gives us an advantage over other clubs when buying players and going for promotion.

No you are right unfortunately. I cant see it ever happening. The European nights were great for the oldies to remember- me included- but they wont come back.

No chance. Literally if that happened to another club we would (rightfully) be kicking off.

its actually great for Wales if TNS do this year upon year, regardless of the "Money being the gap" they are the only professional team in the Welsh league. by them doing well in Europe gives Wales Co-efficiency points, the more points they get the more teams we can enter into european competitons, meaning more money for all the clubs. if it increases the standard of welsh football then its all worth it, TNS might be able to have their own Academies, attract better players, do better in Europe, why is this a bad thing.

Totally agree with this. Also it might attract other investors into clubs like Barry, Caernarfon, etc, if they see the likes of TNS being able do it.

That is a fair point but its has been having a detrimental effect for a few years now on competition in the league
