It works when you build a team to play that style.

Ederson with Stones and Ake for example, all 3 comfortable with the ball, good under pressure, but also know when to just boot it.

I always worry when we play out from the back.

We don't have the right players to do it

Ederson is the best but even he as cost goals with errors ....we just have yo live with it and accept it happens.

I think unless they have plenty of time unlike the 2 goals last night. Just put your foot through it. Obviously horvath last week had time to do that but failed to take control.

Agree with you mate. We certainly don’t and the opposition must see how uncomfortable they are doing it.

Spot on, it’s almost as if it only works well and reliably with confident ball players, so championship level should really be a big no no. Tarkowski wasn’t even giving Pickford an option.

It's fine up to a point but when the defence is being put under so much pressure that they simply cannot play their way out of trouble, the keeper has to launch it. Too many appear to be under instructions not to play it long under any circumstances, which in my view is ridiculous, and often leads to soft goals being given away.

Since the middle of last season I have been asking the question why we continue playing out from the back? Can anyone give me a valid statement that it's working?

Imo we gain nothing from playing this way, just puts unnecessary pressure on us straight away as teams just press us high up the pitch.

football fashion or in other words copying Pep

The concept is to entice the full press (at least 4 players) be good enough with the ball to pass through the press and get behind them with 4 players out of the game, you create an overload to create a chance.

We take all the risk just to get a non-ball playing midfielder on the ball in space. Its pointless, Ramsey took loads of risks today then the ball got to Siopis to mis control it. When the ball got to Colwill I felt something may be on and maybe the risk is worth it.

With our midfeild a long ball up feild with Siopis, Ralls or Rinomhota there to win the second ball would have the same affect with less risk.

We don't have players at back or up front to play this way and draw a team out so we can run at them in space from a through ball etc...

This creates the opposite issue.
We have more players boxed on defence and midfield away from their goal.
Easy to defend and press.
Plus a high chance of mistakes leading to goals.. Eventually a bit of heart in mouth passing leads to a full back knocking the ball up to them to attack us. What a waste
In the championship, a long keeper kick can lead to a defending mistake or poor header leading to a throw in or ball in a positive position in their half.

It doesn't make sense ys putting ourselves under pressure and playing for periods without really doing anything. The jbs just played to exploit our weaknesses, a better team would have been 2 or 3 up at half time yesterday..
We should play positive football and look to exploit other teams weaknesses...
