Say what you like about the lad and I know he divides opinions but he shows real passion for the team. Particularly in this fixture.

He’s done more in this fixture than some City did in a career of derbies

Yeah I agree too.

He was winding the jacks up at the end too which was great. We need more players to take this fixture as seriously as he does.

It’s no coincidence we score a goal by the winger getting to the by line and crossing it back into the box , it’s card to defend against and it’s the primary job of a winger , I have been saying this for 2 years

Fair play to him, took his chance off the bench and turned up in this game again.

I still don’t think he’s consistently good enough to be a Championship player.

Hopefully I’m wrong and he has another good impact off the bench against Middlesbrough.

Hard to disagree with what you say. Good for for him though. :bluescarf:

Put him in a box wrapped in cotton wool until the reverse fixture…!

Only joking! Hope it’s going well in Lanzarote and you’ve not started any fights! ;) :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Nice one, mate. The Scousers seem to like us over the ‘Jacks’; particularly the Evertonians I’ve met… :ayatollah:

Enjoy your holiday; you must be due a work break soon…? ;)

I had a brilliant time with some Evertonians on holiday in April. Not sure what their ‘beef’ was with the ‘Jacks’ but they don’t like them and they weren’t the first to say it… :ayatollah:

Changed the game when he came on, very direct and just wants to take players on. Bulut has stifled his game in the last 12 months - this time last year Ollie was out-and-out attack, his dribble stats were off the charts. Bulut has him tracking back much more now, especially when he starts.

Passion unquestionable and borderline starter for me - failing that, he's probably our best impact sub.

:laughing6: only whip him out for the jacks hahaha

Ive got to be honest, I thought we had zero chance bringing him on, but the composure to see that pass, and execute it to utter perfection was another big game monent for him. Credit where its due.

Watching it again, his first touch was as good as the pass, as it was slightly behind him and he took it in his stride

Just looked at the highlights and you’re spot on mate :bluescarf:

There's a place for him in the team definitely this season.

But as a sub I would say. That's when he seems to be at his best.

Re: “ Ollie Tanner “

Mon Aug 26, 2024 5:13 pm

He's a decent footballer , his fill in as full back at the back end of last season when we were short , was useful and interesting as he didn't disgrace himself .

He is a big unit with pace ,good feat , pity he doesn't fancy the number 9 spot.

Re: “ Ollie Tanner “

I like tanner when he came on he turned there fullback inside out and was to quick for him

Re: “ Ollie Tanner “

Mon Aug 26, 2024 6:45 pm

I like Tanner because he definitely has something about him and he always cares. A lot of people were quick to write him off after Sunderland, I’m glad he’s answered some critics there.
But on the flip side if you look at the Sunderland game Meite came on and looked twice as threatening, which caused some fans to write off Tanner. Now fast forward two games and it’s the opposite. I feel they are both brilliant impact substitutes against tired defenders, but when they start whether it be tactics or whatever they struggle to get into the game. But I personally would pick Tanner over Meite every time as there’s something there and he can produce some magic.

Tracking back is what is expected of any winger, even if you’re Man City or Liverpool.

His issue is consistency, has flashes but then disappears.

100% tracking back is required, but he didn't instinctively do that at the start of last season. He was generally brought on late to change a game with his pace and direct style. Bulut has added the defensive side to his game, at the expense of the all out attack. My point is that when he starts, he seems to not play as attacking a role, but when used as an impact sub, he attacks more. Maybe his instructions are different when he starts/comes off the bench.
