Yesterday watching that match, Horvath scared the living daylights out of me every time he had the ball at his feet, the impact of his clanger up at Burnley has totally knocked his confidence and as a result he just wants it away from him at any cost. If he scares me watching then what about his team-mates. Their goal was down to him yesterday he palmed it right into the striker's feet instead of away from goal and his distribution was dreadful putting pressure on ourselves on a number of occasions.
He has to be taken out of the firing line for a good few matches and Alnwick needs to be in goal.

He stopped some good shots and was left totally exposed for the goal where we were second to THREE balls in the box.
Agreed though, ball at feet was scary yesterday.

I'd prefer Alnwick but he's no better than Horvath at playing out from the back and that's the way Bulut wants to play.
As for their goal, it was a very good initial save just unlucky where it landed. I don't think many keepers would have been able to do better.

I really cannot see any goalie doing any better for the goal we conceded, a cracking save and 2 defenders either side of the jack running through. They should have done better

I disagree regarding Alnwick playing out from the back. He seems a lot more comfortable to me.

Know what you mean about ‘scary’ but probably a mix of what happened at Burnley and the expectant howls from the home fans every time he had the ball.

Horvath looked nervous beyond
He made our defence look all uneasy
A better team than Swansea might have been 3 up
I understand why Bulut played him as it would of probably finished him if he dropped him

Yeah I agree it was probably best to play him yesterday otherwise he would be totally shot, but some of his passing out was shaky to say the least. I think it would do him good to be rested for a while, see how Alnwick does, and make Horvath fight for his place back in the team.

Jason Perry on Cardiff goalie Horvath:
“Cardiff have a problem with the goalkeeper,” he said during his commentary duties for the BBC.
“He didn’t look comfortable, he parried the shot for the goal, he didn’t look comfortable on crosses, with balls back to him he didn’t look comfortable in possession, so it makes it hard to play through the thirds.”
The fact Ethan Horvath sliced a clearance out for a throw-in just moments later only strengthened Perry's argument.

Horvath was a bag of nerves yesterday. That was plain to see. I’d prefer to see Jak back next game

He did look nervous.
I said after Burnley that he should have been dropped but Bulut has stuck with him.
The fact he didn’t make any big mistakes again probably means he’ll stay in the team.
To be fair to him, made a good save before their goal and O’Dowda should have been quicker defending the rebound.

I've said for a long time that Alnwick is the better GKans should be starting. Team confidence starts with the GK and Hovarth has never given us that whereas JA is simply more assured. Nothing against the lad, I want to see all our GKs successful and developing.
We've always been great in the GK dept, it's the most specialist position on the pitch and I feel we have suffered a quality issue since Dibbs was sacked and he should be brought back as a key hire.
The obsession with GKs who can play out marginally better is I think is backfiring for a lot of teams to where goals are being conceded for playing out too much and also there seems to be a precedent for this attribute as a fashion. This seems to take more importance than a solid all round elite level keeper and will hurt sides who don't have the players to support that style. JA would be my first choice anyway for this reason and there is nothing wrong with his feet either. I found it odd he was dropped like a stone and I think it was because of the reasons above.
Come back home soon Dibbs and sort it out.

Completely agree, and Meite shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11.

They could and should have targeted him. I was on the edge with him yesterday. Needs to be dropped
Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:30 pm
He looks so low on confidence. I don't think he's caught a cross yet this season either. He's a good shot stopper though and does suit our style of player better. Still prefer Alnwick

Wouldn't play him in a Sunday league team. Can't catch the ball from the air and he's got a touch like Ted Bundy which makes me nervous when we think we are man city tapping it around the back which we definitely are not

Bit harsh on him for goal but fair enough everything else.

He was much better into the second half but have me the heebie geebies before then. Not convinced with him as our No.1 but we've been spoiled over the years with some excellent keepers that he doesn't match up to

It is our style of play passing the ball amongst the back four that puts him unnecessarily under pressure. No other side I witness do this anywhere near to the same extent as the City.
He is an excellent shot stopper who should be encouraged to distribute the ball further upfield instead of playing constantly amongst the back four. In that case, he can concentrate upon goal keeping to his strengths.

He did contribute with a couple of good saves etc but he looks like a keeper with no confidence.
At Burnley his body language before game seemed not right to me and had a rough afternoon as we all know.
If I was Bullet I would put Jack in but I don't think he will. He doesn't like change.

He looked scared every time he received the ball.
My opinion
Good shot stopper
Doesn't like coming for crosses
Not very good at playing out
Out the 2 keepers Alnwick far, far better keeper
