REFEREE WAS POOR

Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:32 am

As my username suggests that i am a former referee and I often end up defending the referee during a match, however yesterday poor decision making and the lack of disciplinary measures during the match led to to crazy end to the game. He made the bad judgements:
1. On 3 occasions when Swansea players left a boot in on a late tackle and one by a City player which should have attracted yellow cards.
2. A yellow card was issued to NG when he had been knocked to the ground and had been the victim of a foul, the other 2 cautions were correct.
3. The Bulut send-off was totally incorrect unless Bulut used threatening language.

Whilst I dont think the referee's decisions had any direct impact on the result it did warrant a poor referee assessment for him. and the 4th official does have to take some responsibility for the Bulut sending off. :bluebird:

One word to describe yesterday’s referee COWARDICE

Agree with both assessments. He was very poor and a coward for not booking Jack players for bad fouls and for not sending that sly worm Darling off twice. The latter will get pelters from the Canton in the return.

I can see what he was trying to do. He was trying to calm things down by talking to players instead of booking them. It’s something that referees have done in these derby games before and it’s worked.

But there were a few that were so obviously yellow cards and he should have booked them.

He didn’t and this led to him eventually losing control towards the end. Bulut shouldn’t have been sent off and Ng shouldn’t have been booked.

As you say though, I didn’t think his decisions had an impact on the eventual result.

Must also be said that derby games are very difficult to officiate.
