I've defended him from the start

Sun Sep 01, 2024 8:25 am

I was quiet on here last night.

I needed to take some time to make sure that I'm posting stuff that isn't in frustration or anger, and that it's a more methodical post.

It comes as no surprise that I've been one of Buluts biggest supporters. I've defended him tooth and nail.

Yes, last year he had a lot of blockers, an embargo, a squad of L1 players and no money to use. I still believe he did a good job in getting us to top half last season.

I was glad he got offered a new contract.

So far this season, we played against a very good, young Sunderland set up who are going to be a tough team for a lot of clubs to pick apart this year. We played a Burnley team who are going to be up the top end of the table when May comes around, and then obviously the SWD.

We've tried to play better football, tried to be more attacking, but even then I didn't expect any points from the Burnley game.

Yesterday however I thought they were there for the taking. A depleted squad who have had key players put injured, Latte Lath not starting. I really felt that this was where we could kick on, get a result and get some more confidence.

When I saw the line up I was disappointed to say the least. Colwill needs to be starting games. Ramsey I feel this year has been well off the pace, looks a shadow of himself and if im honest I don't think he should be starting.

The substitutions, taking Willock and Robertson off, leaving Ramsey and Meite on the pitch left me scratching my head again.

Bulut hasn't been backed like promised, but he has been backed to a degree and he brought players in that he wanted.

Its now his team. Not the inherited one like last year.

I'm not afraid to say when I'm wrong. I'm starting to realise that I'm wrong with this.

Fill your boots and say "told you so".

I was with you and wanted him to stay... Not now, you're not on your own.

I'm surprised we didn't bring in a raft of European/Turkish players. The signings haven't improved the team.

You’re not on your own ! I wanted him to stay despite some reservations after the finish of last season.

He’s not getting the best out of this very good squad.

Just to correct you, Meite was subbed at half time.

What I can’t work out is how on earth he thought subbing Robertson was the thing to do !!??? Robertson was clearly disappointed to come off so there couldn’t have been an injury and he was the one player looking to open them up.

Ah of course, he was taken off for Tanner. I forgot about that.

Probably something to do with the amount of alcohol I drank last night!

I also didn't understand why he took our striker off when we are losing. Sure, bring Robbo on, but leave Kanga on too. We were chasing the game.

I wanted Bulut to succeed and fully backed him up until the last few games. I can't get my head around the team selection and tactics producing awful football and the worst start to a season I can remember. I now believe he needs to be replaced to save us from relegation, although I still respect him and certainly don't hate him. He's just not up to the task. I believe a better manager could get a tune out of the squad and achieve another mid table finish. Playoffs are a distant dream whilst under the current owner. We need a new owner fullstop. :bluescarf:

I’m pretty much the same as you pre game but not calling for his head just yet.Didnt agree with his team selection or tactics but I think I know what his game plan was just like the jacks game.
Caution first half and bring on the subs second half to have a go which it was inches away from happening.Sadly it didn’t work big time and could backfire on him.
International break coming up so he got a little time to work on his team selection, tactics and everything else.
I’m giving him a chance to prove he can turn this round but understand others aren’t.

You have had the odd dig at me for me criticizing Bulut as far back as halfway through last season. Through the summer, pre season friendlies where I could see Bulutball was back and ready to go again. I have wanted him out from way before the Rotherham debacle.

But I ain’t posting to say I told you so. Or to fill my boots. I respect all City fans opinions.

In fact I would have preferred the reverse , me having to admit I was wrong and that Bulut has turned it around. But it was never going to happen.

He sets the tone before Bulutball even takes the field with his stubborn team selections. All your criticisms of yesterday spot on, but it’s all historic. Last years points fortunate exaggerated haul papered over the cracks. City must get rid now. He is not capable of turning this round, he could have tried things pre season, yesterday’s post patch comments suggest he’s trying new things now, 4 games into the season with 1 goal scored. Says it all. Get rid now!

I was in the Bulut out camp pretty early but also wanted continuity, we can't always jettison a manager after a poor spell and must stick with some sort of a plan.

I was disappointed that he was given a contract, but the omens were not great to start with. The length of negotiations indicated to me that Tan wasn't fully behind the extension and this is a Dalman appointment to go along with the Ole one. The guy is more clueless than Tan !!!!

I convinced myself the only way Bulut ball would work in the championship was if he went 3421 and the way we were collecting mobile "ball playing" centre halves I thought he must have learned, but couldn't change it three-quarters of the way through a season.
The most rigid of 4231 tells me he knows no other way. His version of this doesn't translate into championship wins. Warnock used the same system with a totally different philosophy.

Most managers play 4231, it will not be difficult to get one to change how we play it with the same players and get different results. It make me wonder if Wintle pointed this out to him.

During the contract talks, we were 50/50 as a fanbase, it is probably 90/10 now, with a home defeat against Leeds turning nasty. It takes a lot for mass dissent from us, but 3K Leeds fans taking the piss will be hard to take......

Tan should have talked to Dalman and Choo by now, pull the trigger

I had the same feeling yesterday, wanted to be optimistic for bulut but not after yesterday, that was just baffling , the others have been right for a good while now , so fair play to them , I was wrong

So now its you following the sheep, something you accused me of?

I also supported him and gave him support even after Sunderland but it was obvious after Burnley that he wasn’t going to change things.

Even the Swansea game we were terrible but got out of jail.

I'd never say I told you so...... but I told you so :laughing6: I'm joking of course.

As I said to you a week or so ago, I admire your loyalty to Bulut, you've been one of his greatest supporters but everyone has their breaking point, yours was very high.

Hats off to you for sticking by him for so long

I am going to stick with him for a little while longer,

I don't think there's a way back for bulut now.
It's been negative for so long.

For him to play what he wants (which im not sure what it is, or if it would work here), he would need 12 new players, 6 of them proper quality.
The squad we have is the instrument he needed to tune. But to stubborn to see it.
Will be hard to change him, plus win any fans he's lost or never had.....

Ned, I was wrong and I apologise.

Turns out I do have a breaking point.

It's interesting to read these comments, and takes a good man to admit any wrong.

Personally I hope Tan doesn't drag his feet with Bulut, this two week window is a good starting point for a new
man to come in. We wait until Derby and Leeds, we could be another six points off our nearest rivals, with a
mountain to climb.

I've nothing against Erol he seems a decent man. However, he is way out of his depth in the championship. Good friends
are Boro fans, they were expecting a mauling yesterday. Five second half minutes apart, we barely tickled their tummies.

The manager continues to pick his favourites to start. Like others have said, his subs were again baffling to say the least. Why he doesn't set the side to attack from the off at home is mind boggling? Kanga looks another out of his depth as well.

Despite chronic service, his movement is seriously lacking for a championship centre forward, not to mention touch. Meite has had too many chances and should
be nowhere near the first team, Aaron is struggling with pace, Colwill should have a run in the side at ten? His choice of keeper fails to inspire any confidence, and surely we'd be better off pushing O' Dowda to his natural left wing, bringing in Bagan who's done well in his cameos. Willock could move to his more natural right side?

I'm sure a new pair of eyes in the manager's office, would get a far better tune out of a more than capable squad. It has to be said, they looked very 'lost' again last Saturday. Changes are needed and we need to act quickly. There are some capable managers out of work at present

Yes I did , I do apologise
I have come to see the spiral happening before my eyes also now ,
I thought he wud have changed the side after Swansea game and cup game but was gob smacked to see the same boring football that has been , but was trying to stay optimistic trying to take the positives but we will all break at some point

Likewise - I have posted reason from last season and what has gone on from pre season - End of Oct I might change my mind.
