Surely as you get older you expect to do less less running and play more with your brain and past experience .
So why he is expected to press from the front. He should be anchoring midfield and be a orchestra and playmaker, etc.
Play a back 3 and give him protection with attacking wing backs to give width.
Built is just a Mick McCarthy in a scooby doo cartoon.
ALNWICK
NG CHAM DALMAN
WILLOCK RAMSEY ROBERTSON DOWDA
Colwill
Robinson Kanga

How about coaching Tanner into a striker. He's got pace to burn, use his talents and see how it goes. Can't be any worse than Kanga.

I can do more than kanga I'm over 40, over weight, unfit and had two knee operations. I'm sure I could hold a ball up and do more than trott about now and then or sit on the center Half's hip most of a game.
Although it don't matter who the strikers are there days if they don't get the ball of nothing beyond him we are doomed eitherway it seems but the basics any striker should have as mentioned above.

You want Dalman to play? He's not even good at the job he has!
In all seriousness though, I like the team you've suggested. I'm not too sure about Willock as RWB though.

Why do you need a target man anyway?
Willock and tanner are inverted so crosses are just stabs, hit or miss stuff
We don’t rifle it in to feet either
Back to Ramsey I don’t think he is a 6, he holds onto the ball too long and takes risks as he was a very good modern day 8. He loses the ball too much even in his heyday but that was generally in the attacking third when he was trying to unlock defences.
The balance of the midfield is still all wrong even without Ralls & Wintle
A floating Ramsey in a 6ish role would need 2 “8”s in front to hide his immobility . I don’t see Colwill as one of those 8’s so there is the better passer out the team
I can’t see any other formation for our squad other than 3421 with a compressed middle and the width from wingbacks

I don't subscribe to the popular view that Rambo's "legs have gone".
If you watched Adam Lallana's cameo in the Cup game last week he showed exactly what I had hoped to see from Rambo this year.
Always seemed to have time on the ball, playing short accurate passes for players to run on to and was really diffcult to get the ball off and never wasted a pass.
What happened to the suggestion that Rambo was going to play deeper this season? In most games he's been the furthest player forward for a lot of the game.
On Saturday Bulut took off Robertson who was playing well and left Siopis (who was as usual just passing to the opposition) on the field.
Surely Siopis should have gone off, Rambo move a bit deeper and then have Robertson and Colwill pushing us forward?

Rambo was supposed to play deeper according to bulut but problem with that is no one to go forward from midfield... Saturday his passes cam back to him from middle of pitch no one looked to pass forward and that is the biggest problem in way we play.... NG biggest culprit Saturday.

Yeah but you've used common sense. Bulut doesn't seem to possess any!
