Cardiff City are planning a tribute to defender Sol Bamba around their Championship home game with Leeds United on Saturday, 21 September.

The Bluebirds are liaising with Leeds to organise a tribute to a player who was popular at both clubs.


Both Clubs are together organising a massive tribute .


Let our Clubs do all the organising, they are also meeting Sols Wife to discuss what she would like.



It is expected that there will be a round of applause on the 39th minute for the former captain of both clubs.



Leeds United and Cardiff City are planning a tribute to Sol Bamba for their game on Saturday 21st September. The club’s former player died last Saturday at the age of 39.

The pair will now work together to plan a commemoration for the ex-defender at the Cardiff City Stadium. The Bluebirds’ chairman Mehmet Dalman has said: “Discussions are already underway to pay tribute to Sol at the Leeds game. They are willing and happy to go along with us. There are preparations taking place for this.”

I am so glad Both Clubs have come together for such a a True Legend to Football and Both Clubs.

I agree, let the Clubs sort it All out between them.

Already there has been different parties trying to raise money and do it themselves and arguments over the moneys have caused friction.
We don’t need this and we want all our fans to unite behind the Clubs doing it and let the Professionals do it.

This is going to be Sad, but a Very Special Day to Remember a True Gentleman of Football.

This is good news and a very nice touch by both clubs. We do need something permanent too, so I'm hoping the club will also sort that out too with Sol's family approval of course.

This is where our football community shows that we are all one family and it’s so great to see Cardiff City and Leeds United come together.
I believe both sets of fans will on the day be as one.

I am a little worried there are a couple of people out that saying they are raising £1,000’s in funds, please let the club do it, I as I think we should let the clubs sort it all out.

The Club should be the only one handling this kind of money.

I am sure Billy Badge on the day will have hundreds of cheap flags of our Sol Bamba on the day.

Yes I’m glad the club are organising this tribute and good to see them work with Leeds for it.

I am sure that the club will meet with Sol’s wife, Chloe, to support her wishes and hopefully put in place a permanent tribute - be that a flag or something else.

Sol deserves his own permanent tribute and I think it’s best to leave it to the club to organise.

Why can’t people just turn up, a tribute to Sol should be enough. Ticket prices are very affordable already frankly.
