“ Well you’ve got what you’ve been asking for “

Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:10 pm

Rubin Colwill will start at Derby.

So all of those who have been saying “he needs to start” have got what they’ve been asking for.

I still have my doubts that he’s a Championship starter. All other times he’s started in the league he’s struggled, although he did well against Southampton in the cup.

I hope he takes this chance because I would love to be proved wrong about him.

Good Luck to the Lad if he starts and the other "changes" from the manager :bluebird:

Good luck to him. Is one start enough? He needs a run of games. Is he the answer to our problems? I have big doubts but we'll never know unless Bulut finally takes a gamble on him.

I think most people just want to see positive football and players playing in their right position.

RC has earned his start based on impact from the bench and a MOM in the Cup!!

Some of the players Bulut has been selecting have had a run of poor performances.

Good luck to him and I hope he also gives Bagan a shot at LB.

That's great news but Tanner has to start too as they link up very well on the right.

My only concern is if Colwill doesn't have a good game, there will be posters on here having a go at him again. He needs a run of starting games to get his confidence up.

Exactly, the same people that would defend Ramsey if he burnt their house to the ground.

He needs a run in the team to develop

Agree with both of these comments. The only way to really know if Colwill can cut the mustard is let him have at least 5 consecutive starts.....and if so, Bulut should tell him this from the outset. With his ability, confidence is the key. :bluebird:

I think in the past he's been guilty of waiting for the game to come to him rather than imposing himself on the game. The answer to that can come with age and if he can achieve that there will be no stopping him.

My issue with that is the people who say he needs a run in the team are also saying Kanga is a terrible signing after only a few games.

So it can’t be true of Colwill but not of Kanga.

Ah no I’m on Kangas side too mate. Without service and support a striker can’t do anything. I’m hoping Colwill provides him both

Ned,

Rubin needs a run of starts and more minutes.

As a youngster, these opportunities are what the best players grab hold of.

I don't care about who's forum opinion is right; only that we get the win.

Come on Rubin. You wont get many more of these opportunities unless you perform.

I’ve always said he’s a good impact player but not a starter for me. If he plays, I hope he proves me wrong.

Me too mate. I've said many times, Haaland would struggle to score in Bulut's setup.

Grow up. We all want Colwill to do well & if it takes a run of games then I'm all for it & I hope he proves those of us who aren't sure about him wrong. Personally I think he needs a change of scenery for it to come out but I hope he bangs in a goal or two.

A lot of huff and puff but nothing at the end of it.

As bad as the rest of them.

He looked a bit lost until he was given free roam.

At that point I thought he looked a lot better

That's it, resort to insults. If you're fully grown then try acting like you are rather than having a go at people because they have a different opinion than you do.

My apologies, not the best of days for me yesterday but no excuse to resort to insults.

I don’t have a go at people but I am very sarcastic and that doesn’t translate well over text.

The problem for me is Ramsey who was top 6 modern day 8 doesn't do much in this system either.
Aflat, stay at home, narrow back 4, 2 holding midfielders, the wide forwards are wide and in the space where the fullbacks should be covering and a static centre forward........Its doomed before we start.

My overall view of Colwill is he is primarily a passer, he travels with the ball but he is not a 10/ second striker. Colwill needs to find a system that suits his skillset. Malky allowed Whitts a free role during his first season, now Colwill hasn't the credit in the bank to do that but to maximise the player what he needs to do.

He wouldn't have made warnocks bench in his 433, but would excel in a 3421 as one of the four attacking or defensive midfielders.

In fairness I thought them the “grow up” remark was pretty insulting, and all because you had a different opinion to you.

Fair play for the apology, shame the other poster isn’t more like you.

Yeah but I should just leave it haha. If I feel I’m patronised it brings some kind of childhood trauma to the forefront haha. Not much gets me wound up anymore but that does.
