Everything we do at this club is reactive. There are never proper plans in place. Signings drag on through pre-season so the squad isn’t together fully, training doesn’t seems to be up to scratch before the season starts so we are already behind the drag curve with poor fitness levels.
Warnock was the last manager who had his business sorted early with a decent pre-season and look at the start we made the year we went up under him.
I just don’t think there is enough football nous at the club. Bulut doesn’t understand what is needed. We should have been ready to go first game. We weren’t.
We are being caught out as our players aren’t fit enough to press high like others are, aren’t fit enough to keep the ball and use it with high energy hence the passing about at the back. They aren’t comfortable with the ball to ward off the opposition press when that does happen (which it doesn’t as well teams know we can’t hurt them so let us have it anyway).
Better coaching is needed but we also need some more football nous at the club. Until we get that we will always just be reacting.

I agree with what you've said.
In addition to what you've said though, we are leaking goals left right and centre.
On paper we have two ex premier league defenders, a player in NG who is highly rated, and a Greek international.
Our left back position is an issue but we shouldn't be as shite at the back as we are.
Ng has spent most of his time trying to wind up the opposition instead of playing football and has been the reason for a fair few problems at the back.
Chambers just doesn't look like he knows what he's doing a lot of the time. He worries me.
Goutas is doing his job well but has inconsistent moments.
Daland has become a big miss for us even though he's only just joined.

Don’t agree with all of that. It’s not an issue when you sign players as long as you get the right ones. We don’t.
Maybe the wait is because we are going for players beyond our reach, either financially or the Club standing.
Also don’t agree it’s fitness. It’s down to tactics, style, coaching, player ability and in-game management. Bulut is accountable for all of it.

Out main problem is that we have needed a DOF for a decade and a quality striker for 4 years
Unfortunately, for reasons only known to the board we haven’t got close to solving either of these to issues!!

Yeah tactics 100% is an issue. We seem to have really bad injury problems. Has to be fitness related that.
I watch Oxford as they are local and they got their business done early and had a class pre-season. They were ready to go. On paper we have signed better players but on the pitch they aren’t at all.

It’s always intrigued me when it’s said we need a full pre season, players in early etc to give a manager and team time to bed in. Then whenever we come up against a team that’s got a new manager mid season. The posts start coming in along the lines of hope we don’t suffer a new manager bounce. When those managers have been parachuted into a poorly performing team and have less than 7 days to their 1st match. Maybe it’s me misunderstanding it all.

He played mostly the kids and reserves pre season.
I remember being mauled after saying we will really struggle after watch Wurzel Rovers, we scored outside the box I think. We were slow and kept playing backwards mostly. Kanga isolated and out of his depth.....
Nowadays, a politician might call it a fake pre season lol!!!!
