“ EROL BULUT WAS ON “

Sun Sep 22, 2024 12:39 pm

Erol Bulut was on £850k per year at Cardiff City with the contract running through until June 30, 2026.

It has cost the Bluebirds board between £1m-£1.5m to chop him -

BUT this is peanuts compared to the loss of solidarity/membership payments the club would leak if they lost Championship status.

depends on clauses in his contract , probably be paid like Dave Jones was on gardening type leave . So might not get lump sum

Where are those figures from?

There has been lots of different numbers ranging from a to z mentioned with regards to Buluts salary.

Whatever his wage was, paying him off is better than sticking with him.

Pretty sure that would be the case Wez

Most sacked Managers are paid their full monthly salary until they get a new job and then they are paid a percentage until the contract expires

Personally I would never sack a manager I’d place them on gardening leave. They can then either sit around for the next two years and pick up their wages (which would cost the club no more than paying their contract up) or get another job and attempt to rebuild their reputation. Of course in order to get another job they would have to resign at which point we could stop paying them

Big pay off but I thought it would be more so I'm pleasantly surprised.

Doesn't quite work like that.

Continue to pay monthly until end of contract or until they get a new job.

or

NEGOTIATE the severance package. No manager gets their whole contract paid out in full immediately after sacking. Pay offs could easily be around the 50 to 60% mark as they can go and get a job the next day and also have the pay off in their pocket.

All I will say is the figures are virtually spot on.

Just goes to show how nuts the finances in football are. There are more average managers out of work than in work. A fair few with a better record than Bulut. In any other world that would mean the salaries would be reasonable. And yet we pay £850K a year for a manager that not many other championship club would want. We have to sell almost 3,000 season tickets just to pay that. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The £850k a year works out at just over £16,000 a week .
