Can we afford a good manager?

Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:37 pm

I know ffp has been talked about lots so does that mean we can't bring in a quality manager?

Obviously the better the manager the more the cost do the club have money to get in someone of quality ?

It makes me wounder if we can't afford to then I'm worried that purse or one of the coaches get the job.

Of course we can. The compensation to Bulut was about £1.5m.

That won't even be a lump sum, it never is. It will be spread across multiple payments.

So finances are not an issue in bringing in a manager - unless they ask for stupid money obviously.

Are managers included in ffp calculations as they are not playing staff?

I'm not sure, I did have a look but it isn't so straight forward

If it isn't the case then no excuse we need to go straight for the best man for the job.

We have way too many times tried the untested managers

I agree, we need the best man for the job the stumbling block is Tan if he s pissed about Bulutthen it's a cheap option,if his head is on straight it will be an experienced manager....who knows what's going on in his head.

In the big scheme of things we can’t afford to NOT bring in a good manager.

Unless we want to be holding on to scraps like derby wins and last minute winners until the inevitable relegation.

Yes we can afford a good manager and yes, they are included in FFP.

We can, and we should.

The costs involved in a new, experienced manager isn't like the costs for a top player in the championship.

Should we get relegated by appointing an ineffective manager yet again, that would be another payout, on top of the loss of money for the club by going to L1.

Its a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.

We need a good Championship manager who has a good history in the Championship

Of course we can afford a good manager it's a myth that we don't pay good wages to managers or players .

Wez, problem is that we offer a lower than average base salary, and we offer a lot of incentives.

Whilst this is good for up and coming managers, experienced managers who are in demand will not go for that set up.

Bulut was 825k per year, which is less than the average was 4 years ago for a championship manager.

Yes his bonuses would have added up if he hit them, but an in demand manager won't take that set up I doubt.

What are the new FFP rules?

Under the proposed new rules, clubs "will only be allowed to spend a set percentage of their annual turnover on the wage bill for the first team and its coaching staff, plus the amortised costs of their transfer fees and all agents' fees." Clubs that breach the rules "will still be subject to points deductions...
