" Gavin Ward returns to Cardiff City "

Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:57 am

Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to announce Gavin Ward has returned to the Club in a coaching capacity.

Ward has agreed to join as First Team Goalkeeping Coach on an interim basis.

Mario Galinović, who filled this position during Erol Bulut's time with the Bluebirds, has decided to depart Cardiff City. He leaves with our very best wishes.

Ward will join the Club immediately and will be part of the coaching team this weekend at Hull City.

Gavin will be fondly remembered by City supporters for his impact during the 1992/93 Division Three title & Welsh Cup winning side. He spent four years previously in South Wales between 1989-1993.

Welcome back, Wardy!

As I said multiple times before though, that's not a guarantee of success.

Morrison, Hudson, Purse amongst the others.

Purse knows the club, most (including me) want him gone.

Morrison didn't do great, Hudson didn't do great.

Good on the club to act quickly , ward is a decent guy and it's good to have players coaching that know the club .

Some things stick in your mind for ever. I can't remember who we were playing but Gavin Ward punted the ball down field, (and he could launch them) and it bounced, beat the opposing keeper and whistled past the post by inches. Quick as a flash the big guy next to me with a booming voice shouts "For fook sake Gavin, get them on target" Brilliant and what a good few years we had under Eddie May, lower leagues but great days. Welcome back Gavin. :bluescarf:

I agree with that with purse, but Hudson got chucked in the deep end with one of the worse squads we had in years
