Director of Football : My mind is very

Sat Sep 28, 2024 8:40 am

Director of Football :

My mind is very clear on this . We 100% need to have an in- house , full time , top top man , with a proven record …..to REALLY take full charge of the football operations !!!!

Getting a Director of Football will matter for nought …..if he is going to be controlled by Tan ! Tan will be interfering on daily basis ….and will fire this suggested Director of Football …..if he is not compliant .

My point is that let us stop asking for this very logical and necessary thing ….. if Tan continues to be Tan that we have known for so long .

As it stands …..while I want a Director of Football in principle …..the reality is that it will be useless …. NOW .

However , this Tan attitude may/will change …..if and only if …..we are doing very badly …..then Tan may have no other alternative .

I am not certain at all ….but I do suspect that Dalman knows that …..so he is giving Tan more rope to hang himself with (on this issue).

In the meantime , I say that unless it is a proper Director of Football ….with real power and authority to act …..please stop advocating it .

I also came to the same conclusion this morning after reading the Dalman & Choo thread

I disagree.

Tan takes advice from Dalman and Choo on footballing matters (which is a crazy sentence to even write).

They also say that they have hired a firm to help them appoint a manager.

With a DoF or Sporting Director there would be no need for these things.

Someone who knows football (and not just someone who used to play for the club, I heard someone suggest Nathan Blake which is laughable) will be able to recommend things.

They can also be put in charge of transfers so they are always doing a worthwhile job.

There is always a need for someone like that.

100% we need a director of football in place.
Nobody at the club knows anything about the game.
We need someone who's seen and done it all before.
Hopefully stop all the crap coming out of Dalman and Choo's mouth's.

It won't be useless.

You're letting your own feelings cloud your judgement here Annis.

We need a DoF urgently.

100%said this for years.
Managers should focus on the players and the games…
D o F is essential if you don’t have a football man on the board…
Woulld need to be a strong character at Cardiff so I would go for Tony Mowbray

An experienced DoF is modernity a huge must for any club and ours is no exception…

I have disagreed in the past, when managers were managers but the game has changed and we clearly need to improve and keep up…

I think he/she wouldn’t have to have club connections and I note Mark Bowen has been placed on ‘gardening leave’ by in fighting and in trouble Reading after doing a good job behind the scenes… :ayatollah:

What would be the point of a director of football when that person would have to go through choo, then Dalman, and finally Tan to make the final decision.

No need to disrespect Nathan - he talks more sense than most. I would also like Jason Perry to sort out our defence !

Who would be appointing the Director of Football?

The same clowns who have brought the club to it's knees.

Would you trust Tweedledee, Tweedledum and Tweedledummer to appoint the correct person as DOF?

We definitely need a director of football and we need philosophy and a direction. It will all take years to achieve but what is evident is The board have tried in there own way but they've made to many mistakes.
Tan doesn't trust anyone now so it's going to be really hard work for anyone .
They really need to get this next manager right or we will be in league one .We are in a terrible mess no stability at all
