SHOCKING: DERBY COUNTY V NORWICH CITY

Sat Sep 28, 2024 12:34 pm

Absolutely shocking, as a great tackle sees the ball safely over the line for a corner; but referee and (slow) linesman contrive to see a Norwich player scoop the ball back across the goal and placed (excellently to be fair) into the net…! :o

As poor a decision as Chelsea’s ‘goal’ against us a few years ago (yes, that bad!)

The pundits are going to have fun with this one…!

H-T: Derby County 0 - 1 Norwich City

I honestly believe the refs and linesmen have been told to be awful this season so they can bring in VAR. That’s the only reason I can think of, as people can’t be as incompetent as the refs and linesmen this season.

Would you have seen that in real time?

Rightly or wrongly, they are human and if something happens quickly, they may not see it.

Thats why VAR is needed.

What?

This isn't a foul on the halfway line they've missed, it's a huge error.

If they can't spot that then they shouldn't be in the game.

I can't believe if that happened to us, you'd say "oh well it's human error, these things happen."

In fact, you're literally the only person in the country saying that.

If anyone else in any other job made an error on that scale, they would be torn apart by their boss and would face disciplinary action - rightly so.

What do you mean what?

It was a simple question.

The picture speaks volumes, but if it happened quickly then it might not be easy to spot as a linesman.

I wasn't saying it was the right decision.

It's their job to spot these things and this is a simple decision, there is no excuse.

Swans Bristol game swans player clearly holding goalie nothing obstructing view of ref and doesn't give foul when swans player ran behind keeper and heads in empty net! Are officials getting worse than previously if that's possible?
