Oh wow RIP massive failures at hillsborough

Sun Sep 29, 2024 8:12 am

Sheffield Wednesday FC. Stewards stood around whilst a man lay on the floor with a heart attack whilst me and 3 other WBA FANS tried to revive him. 12 minutes for the defib to arrive. A defib with battery failure after two shocks. No oxygen available. Aisles not wide enough to safely carry a stretcher down. This ground, its management should be closed down it’s unsafe and I will NEVER visit this ground again. Today hillsborough claimed a victim from p@@@ poor planning West Bromwich Albion RIP to the gentleman, condolences to his family and sincere apologies we could not do more

Horrific mate, after all they have been through you would think they would be up there on crisis situations

Kyle, that is so sad and my condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased and to West Bromwich Albion FC…!

I’m sure there will be an investigation from all sides but is is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Hillsbrough has been part of an unsavoury situation

Without knowing the full facts, I’ll let Sheffield Wednesday respond to any shortcomings; but 100% they have ‘Duty of Care’ to everyone attending their stadium and in the vicinity of…

Checking of emergency equipment (First Aid, Defibrillators, medical access in case of emergency, and suitably trained and experienced operators ‘at hand’ to carry out life-saving care…

Credit to those supporters who helped where they could… :ayatollah:

Horrific sven, the thing is most stewards are agency so either didn't know protocol or they froze in the moment.

There is videos on twitter of the fans going absolutely mental at the stewards while they just stand there.

I find it so scary how so many heart attacks has been happening the last few years at the games so sad

Agree, Kyle, and we hear of it more and more; perhaps because most clubs now take a ‘medical emergency’ as it states, an emergency…

Every stadium or events venue is legally obliged to have ‘suitably trained’ staff/stewards to deal with an unforeseen action, event, or emergency…

Some stadiums and venues are better than others…

Thankfully, in Cardiff, those roles are taken seriously by the venues, and proper ‘on the job’ training is the norm. I’m not 100% certain about the CCS protocols but as an example, the Principality Stadium has ‘teams’ of Stewards who are specific in their roles for each event and each one of those receives specific training ratified by NVQ qualifications. Obviously, there will be some exceptions but on the whole they do a marvellous job in sometimes tough circumstances and those at the Principality (many of whom also work the ZCCS, cricket and other local venues) are frequently praised by attendees and teams/performers as the best and most helpful Stewards in the UK and beyond

Long may it continue here but sadly Wembley and some others are a different story….

This is terrible.

First of all, RIP to this West Brom fan. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Anyone who has been to Sheffield Wednesday away will know that their stewards are less than helpful, but this is a total disgrace.

Just as Chris says, unfortunately they have history.

Let's hope inquest highlights the totally inadequate response from stewards and the clubs failure to maintain defib.... as someone who carried one in my car for ambulance service i was required to test it weekly obviously something club did not do....

RIP
