Busting a myth

Mon Sep 30, 2024 2:05 pm

Over the last week or so I've seen a few people saying that we won't be able to attract a decent manager because of Tan.

Now I agree that the club isn't being run well by him, Dalman and Choo.

But it's total rubbish that we wouldn't be able to attract a decent manager.

Many many managers who are high in quality would want a Championship job. There are plenty of them out of work who are just waiting for the opportunity to take a job like this.

I expect many of them will have registered their interest.

So the club need to appoint one of these managers. Getting this appointment right is crucial.

I doubt someone will be brought in for Bristol City but in my opinion they need to be in place well before the Plymouth game to give them chance to work with the players who aren't on international duty.

My concern is that we will end up with someone that doesn't necessarily tick the boxes of high end manager who wants a championship job.

We need to also have a style of football in mind, match that football to a manager.

We CAN get a good manager, but will we?

Agreed.

"We don't spend for managers" - nonsense.

"We won't pay compensation" - says who.

"But he's happy in his current job" - bollocks, money is a huge driver, and we're a bigger club draw for managers than is often discussed on this forum.

I think the biggest sticking point may well be that Tan likes a yes man.

Who would want to manage us under Tan? The clubs an utter shambles. Good luck to whoever gets the job.

Besides Warnock who else would you say isn't a yes man?

Do you have multiple accounts here?

Anyway I'm 50/50 on him being a yes man, not really any evidence either way for me.

What?

How have you come up with that conclusion?

No, I haven't. Regardless of if we see eye to eye or not on a lot of opinions. The mods and admins will be able to clarify that I do not have multiple accounts.

Don't know how many times I have to say it but it's been well reported that it won't be Mark Hughes.

It was a joke because you answered a question I asked someone else. Just trying to lighten the mood around here.

I think I agree with the OP - many managers will see us as having potential - especially if there is the prospect of European football. When I first started watching Cardiff most of the games I saw with my father were midweek against foreign opposition. We took Europe for granted then: all we had to do was win the Welsh Cup. Lovely memories - hope that young supporters will be able to have this.

Good post

There are plenty of good experienced managers out of work that would love to manage Cardiff City, especially if they read Mark Harris's comments on his time here.

Steven Schumacher 9/4 on betting odds. Com to be our next manager, according to one of the podcasts I listen to on you tube he had talks with us last week and it went quite well.

Whats everyone’s thoughts?

I thought he was unlucky to be sacked from Stoke , did a great job at Plymouth got them promoted to the Championship on 101 points , established them but got linked with a move to Stoke.

Who knows anymore Wez haha. Decent history, probably worth a try. Probably fail, might succeed, the joyride continues.

I have been saying this from day one of Bulet going, of everyone that is available he is realistically in my opinion the best one available right now.

I haven’t seen anywhere that he has already met with the club, I hope he has, what’s the link for the podcast mate ?

Been saying it for years that any manager would come to City despite tan ..those that keep harping on about not attracting quality manager do so because of distane for tan understandably so! but very wrong assumption... now all we need us for tan to appoint so mentioned manager and not mediocre ones

It’s not gonna be pretty football under him.

Plymouth were pretty functional. Thats not an issue at all just an observation.

You don't need to be a forensic scientist to look where we go wrong. We don't do well with the mad gambles

championship credentials

Malky- 100 games prior to us (surprised it was that many)
Warnock - The championship godfather
Harris - 250 the wall
Mad mick - 900 games
Lamouchi 55 games forest
Slade over 400 lower EFL

non championship

Ole - Norwegian league
Trollop - First team (excellent) coach
Morison - U23 coach
Hudson - assistant
Bulut - Turkish football
