Cian Ashford was dropped from the Wales U21s squad prior to last Fridays game v Czech Rep.
Bad attitude towards Matty Jones etc during training. Ashford only put into the 21s squad after Wales admin error left Colwill R and a few others unavailable. After the game at Rodney Parade Ashfords Mother openly critical of Matty Jones in front of Parents , Players and Matty Jones himself in the players lounge. Ashfords mother clearly drunk apparently, it’s in the public domain already before you shoot down the messenger.

Reading this is quite sad actually. Silly boy as had a lot of potential.
I knew their were problems why he was not furthering his career.
Ashfords 20 years old these are his best years

He came on with about 25 minutes to go
He was absolutely woeful hardly touched the ball and looked completely disinterested
Said to my mate that there was something not right with his performance looked like he didn’t want to be there

Did hear rumours that the Southampton goal went to his head, didn't post anything because they were just rumours and wasn't fair to post it unless I knew it was 100% true.
But sounds like there are big problems with his attitude.
A few days ago, people were saying he should be in the City match day squad. But I said there was no evidence, Southampton goal aside, that he deserved to be.
I stand by that and if he has attitude problems, even more so.

This just furthers my opinion that Reindorf is the one that should be given the chance, not Ashford.

Ashford is still a kid , no one is perfect

No excuse for this sort of attitude.
If we signed a 20 year old and they have attitude like this then we'd criticise them, Ashford doesn't get special treatment because he's from the academy.

At his age you'd expect him to be thankful of the opportunities and level headed, as he hasn't actually made it as a professional in the senior game yet.
If it was a seasoned professional who has proven their worth over a 10 year period, I'd somewhat understand but still wouldn't want the attitude around the rest of the squad.
Hopefully he knuckles down and proves his worth on the pitch when given the opportunity, which really this season he hasn't.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that quite a few of our young players of recent years have had stinking attitudes, both on the training ground and off the pitch.
I’m not sure it’s a total coincidence that only really Colwill and Bagan have come through and we’ve found ourselves releasing players who from the outside you’d think would have been worth keeping for another few years.

It's all speculation but what I will say is that the workplace has changed for a lot of young people. We live in a world of 'you owe me' and 'I want it now.' Hard work, doffing your cap to the boss and putting in extra are not necessary the values of some of the younger generation. Credit to players like Bagan who have kept their head down and keep working for it. If Ashford thinks we owe him, goodbye son, off you go.

Sounds as if young Ashford could do with a good old fashioned kick up the arse

I was critical of loaning conte and Walcott to non league. But if the rumours are correct then maybe he needs that sort of loan to get him game time and toughen him up a bit.
Conte needs to come back or be loaned higher imho

Been this way for a few years. Bellamy tried to change it but they made allegations against him, which led to his leaving. Two separate sources told me this around 18 months ago..

Yeah I was thinking that.
That alongside comments above seem to indicate to me that the parents should be taking a look at themselves instead of thinking that their kids are god’s gift to earth and a potential meal ticket.
Maybe take some notes from the Colwills who seem to have raised two professional and hardworking young men

I'm sick of hearing that our 20, 21 and 22 year olds are youngsters. Other clubs bring in 17 and 18 year olds and they become 1st team squad members. If Ashford has an attitude problem he needs a kick up the arse or ditch him.

I agree - my work means I employ a few folks, we learnt to avoid graduates (it's a technical market we work in) as they don't yet possess the life skills to stick at work for any length of time, and are prone to "Big Time Charlie" syndrome...there are idiots at all ages, but the younger generation appear to have an issue with perspective more often than others.
As for parents - wife works in a secondary school, honestly what she comes home with about the idiot parents, its all very destructive.

Unfortunately, you are spot on Jimmy Jazz.
Young people almost impossible to employ in my technical field. Too much entitlement and no graft. Its not as if there aren't any jobs for them either, good jobs too.... Also, the Parents can be so childish and single sighted...

This has brought back memories.
The team I use to train with back in my team days I use to turn up for all training session, work my bollocks off and go home knackered. I hardly got picked and was also preferred my those who did not turn up for training. The guys preferred were a couple of years older than me and the only advantage they had over me was their strength. When my strength equalled theirs 2 seasons later I was still watching from the bench. I eventually lost heart and gave up. It was only natural.
