“CARDIFF CITY’S HIERARCHY ARE UNDERWHELMED”

By Glen Williams

Wednesday 16th October 2024

We are now no closer to finding out who Cardiff's next permanent manager will be than we were before the international break.

Barring the odd exception, Cardiff's top brass are said to be largely underwhelmed by the calibre of available candidates — if they weren't then they would have appointed one of them by now — and are content with interim boss Omer Riza taking the reins for a few more games.

Riza has overseen an improvement in the team's performances, although given how terribly Cardiff had played up until that point there was little risk that performances would get much worse (although never say never!), and his three games in charge have yielded four points from Nine points available , which is not a poor return given the circumstances.

But the current state of play is thus; Cardiff are bottom of the table and are the league's lowest scorers by a considerable distance — they have three fewer than Preston North End's seven who are next worst — after nine matches.

And it isn't solely Riza's fault that Cardiff are in this position. He takes some of the blame, of course, having been on the coaching staff during the first six matches.

They have two colossal home games coming up over the coming few days. First up is Plymouth Argyle on Saturday lunchtime and the second is against Portsmouth, who sit one place above Cardiff in 23rd on goal difference, the following midweek.

The fact they are both at home is significant, because if the result goes one way or the other, you will hear about it. So, too, will Vincent Tan, who will be watching out in Malaysia.

Omer Riza has been handed a huge opportunity and he'll be desperate to take it.

Plymouth home this Saturday and Portsmouth home next week

Sounds like an excuse to me.

We know decent managers want the job, Ryan Lowe practically declared his interest on Sky at the weekend and said all managers looking for a job would be interested.

So I don't buy this at all, just more propaganda.

They probably mean underwhelmed by those "in their price bracket".

It's a bit rich coming from them that they are underwhelmed by the calibre of applications they've received. Especially after the dross they've hired over the last few years...what would they be saying about Riza if he was in the hat and not already on our coaching staff...emphasis on f$%king 'coaching' there!!!

Re: Apparently Vincent Tan & Mehmet Dalman

Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:04 pm

And the fans have been even more underwhelmed by their manager choices over the last decade!!

So what happened to the agency advisors and 2 experienced managers who were looking at everyone in Europe? Absolute more drivel.

Re: Apparently Vincent Tan & Mehmet Dalman

They must think we are stupid ..coming out with this dross they are trying to make excuses so they can keep Riza , the cheaper option

We really are governed by complete morons who have absolutely no idea about football.
They also have no idea about public relations, and no idea how to treat us (the fans).
We were there before them and will be there after they have gone.
The most important element of a football club is the supporters.

That statement makes no sense at all? Underwhelmed!! there are enough good candidates out there to satisfy any club.... and there's candidates that can be appointed now... the question should be why haven't they appointed anyone?

Re: Apparently Vincent Tan & Mehmet Dalman

We really are run by complete clowns. Almost every year ridiculous stuff like this going on. We plenty of competent and available candidates that are much better than most of the rubbish these guys have hired over the last several years.

Schumacher, Bilic, Lowe, Mowbray, Wagner and rowett all unemployed.

Unless they are trying to sort something out with bilic there is no excuse for this delay.

We have a couple of crucial games coming up after a two week break and still no manager and no plan.

No wonder attendances are dropping so much I am getting sick of this now

What the board are trying to say, we can’t find a cheaper alternative than Riza. They are going to drag this out and hope we just avoid relegation, but I think it’s going to back fire on them.

Just get on with it and get a new manager in.If they hadn't of been so ridiculously stupid in the past they may have better candidates

Don't need a cheaper alternative to riza as he's already employed by club! cheaper alternative is riza as won't need to spend on employing anyone ..

Don't listen to a word the board says, its all BS.

Re: Apparently Vincent Tan & Mehmet Dalman

I am not one to go overboard in the anti-Tan/board/club stakes but that "leak" is crass, naive, and plain daft.

So who has overwhelmed them in the interviews in the past? Bulut, Hudson, Morison? We know Lamouchi didn't.

It insulting to proven championship managers, from a board who got lucky out of desperation with Warnock, and that's it....

Fcuking clueless, classless, and baseless drivel.

I think we all know what this means , they want to keep Riza in charge or atleast try n get a few wins so the fans will be won over to keep him

Correct assessment and they have thought that for many seasons now encouraged by the naïve loyalty of many posters on here who swallow the Board's positive spin bullshit every Summer when we faff about in the transfer market buying has beens, maybes and never beens instead of filling glaring gaps in the squad with quality we desperately need to stay up let alone get promoted!! Tan is the typical dog in a manger surrounded by yes men all of whom don't have clue and totally lack ambition.

I've no idea what goes through these guys minds. We know they don't consider our position as a crisis and I'm presuming they think we have time. Lets prey Omir get us the points to get us out of the bottom 3. If we are still there come Christmas well you know what they say and it could be too late.

The Key word here is "APPARENTLY" this is a trail that is based on third party information which could or could not be correct. One thing is clear the recruitment process has not gone well. It puts Tan and Dalman in an difficult position that they cannot say anything until its resolved one way or other, as a result everyone is making up their own version of the process. :bluebird:

Let's hope we are out of the bottom 3 by the next International break - Mid Nov ...
