Would two wins give Riza the job?

Wed Oct 16, 2024 5:02 pm

We have two big home games coming up in the next week.

Plymouth on Saturday and Portsmouth on Tuesday.

I will be there Saturday and possibly again on Tuesday.

I think they are two games we should be winning.

But if Riza wins then both, would you give him the job?

My answer is NO. In my view, these are two of the easiest home games we'll have this season. I still feel we need a manager with Championship experience to get us through the season.

But interested to hear others opinions, and what arguments some may have for giving him the job.

I hope he wins the next two but wouldn't give him the job.

Nope, we need someone with more experience.

I actually think the club will give Riza the job if City win these next 2 matches.

And in that eventuality, who knows how the rest of the season will pan out.

Said all along no wev need knowledgeable coach who have experience in championship ... Two wins won't prove anything other than Bulut had the squad under performing with his tactics.

Its a manager who gets us the unexpected points, against the liked of Leeds, Sheff Utd, Burnley etc we need, not one who wins a game we should be winning anyway, so no is my answer.

Yeah, that's the way I see it and you've explained it better.

So you think he should be given the job? Or did you misread the question? I think the latter.

Personally think the board is hoping he wins them so they can employ him as he is the cheap option, we need someone with experience now more than ever

Tan always looks for the cheap option . Riza s tactics at Bristol show his naivety . We need someone who is battle hardened to give us momentum

The OP question is would you give the job, not would Tan give the job, I presume like you said that Annis is saying that the regime would give the job

I used tan as he's head of the regime... but yes Annis is just saying yes to the OP question ... :occasion5:

These next 2 Home games are massive for the club - For me I have said that Riza would get the chance to still manage .

It looks like to me that the club are going by game by game with the next International break - Mid Nov .

Yeah, that's the way I see it and you've explained it better.

But we don't know if Riza is capable of getting us wins against those top teams yet, you're assuming he isn't?

I'm not saying I want him to be the permanent manager but he knows the players and the players seem to be responding to his way. If we do win the next 2 games then maybe he deserves a chance especially if we win them by playing good attacking football.

If he does get the job I think it'll only be a contrat until the end of the season anyway.

I fear, Under our three hapless stooges stewardship - yes!

And Riza would not care a jolt that January would probably see loans and freebies and no budget to improve a bottom of the table side. That’s the reality, so all the names mentioned would have to tackle that. Hardly enticing is it?

Personally if we win the next two games I’d be tempted to leave Riza in charge until Christmas and see how it pans out

My fault for actually reading what was written in the post where the question asked by Worcester in the body of the post is " But if Riza wins then both, would you give him the job?" because I don't see Tan mentioned anywhere.

But if that isn't the question & it is if Tan would give him the job then I would Agree with Annis that he would.

In future I will just read the headline but no doubt that will be wrong as well. :laughing6:

I’m torn on this one. We should ordinarily be looking to pick up six points from these two home games. As we know, this season has been anything but ordinary.

A part of me thinks he deserves a chance if he wins both.

The more common sense side of me says we’ve been down this road MANY times before. We need a strong, experienced manager.

Re: Would two wins give Riza the job?

If we get two wins in the next two games we would then have Riza presiding over x3wins, x1draw and x1defeat. Under Bulut it was x5defeats and x1draw. To me that would be positive progress and worthy of a short contract so as to be clear that it's not a fluke.
What's obviously very important to most supporters is also the manner of those wins, will the football be more pleasing on the eye? or will the same boring tactics be on show?
I'm not sure whether people were more pissed off with the results or the manner of the defeats (shite football).
To be fair to the man two more wins is a vast improvement and will lift us up the table a good few places and he would've surpassed expectations so on that alone I would give him the job on an initial short term basis.

How do people feel now about this?

My position is the same.

Keep him as a coach but not the manager.

That said, if we beat Pompey then I think Tan will appoint him.

Catch 22 not sure he's the man but the difference is stark compared to bulut.! Really should read 3 out 3 win and that's the catch 22? Do we upset what riza as achieved by replacing him with a coach who probably needs games to get across his style and still get best out of the squad... or keep riza ... today's game he's shown learned from Bristol..... he kept momentum when game was won and the press was very impressive all way through. ... can anyone see any faults in his tactics? Only one complaint is anwick he needs to distribute ball quicker when opportunity arises several times he got us in trouble by waiting 20mins to play out when 10 seconds was sufficient... other than that a perfect display.

Yeah after 20 mins I fell asleep waiting for him to distribute the ball :sleepy2:

That was tongue in cheek .....but lost count how many times he got ball defender was free but he simply played around inviting plymouth onto him and defenders.....got away with it couple times a better team will punish him
