Our home attendances

Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:30 am

Our home attendances haven’t only recently been poor.

Granted that Millwall was terrible, but last season we only got above 25k for Bristol, Leeds and Swansea.

The Bristol and Swansea games are derbys so that is expected, Leeds always bring a lot.

The 22-23 season only Swansea and Huddersfield games.

Season before that, only Swansea above 25k and only 3 games with over 20k across whole season.

It is not a new thing that our attendances haven’t been there.

I have always hoped we are at best a 25k club whilst in the championship, but we arent getting anywhere near that average and that frustates me yet doesnt surprise me either.

Ninian was a sell out for the derbies rarely anything else.

The rebrand lost us a few, I know some that will never return while Tan is at the club.

The upper Ninian will rarely get used unless we are in the EPL. EPL games saw us regularly hit the 30 k mark. I do believe if we could do a Brighton or Brentford and achieve EPL sustainability, and win some memorable games, I think we could go in excess of 30k

100% right.

We would get 25k regularly if we were in the top six but otherwise that's not going to happen.

Obviously would get 30k+ for every game if we were in the Premier League.

I think there were games where we didn’t get 30k even in the premier.

If we established in the prem we would quickly lose support unless we were up there regularly apart from the big games.

Success is what brings crowds.

Our highest percentage of stadium filled were after the rebrand in red and biggest crowds were while Tan has been in charge.

About 50 fans returned season tickets due to the rebrand. Others who left after that were using Tan and the rebrand as an excuse.

Not last time we were there, the average for the season was over 30k.

Correct, there was only two games we didn't hit 30k.

Fulham and Brighton.

The following season though we only had over 25k for the jacks. And then the season after that only over 20k 3 times.

Think our support has been pretty good when you consider how bad the actual football has been for years now, not to mention the terrible match day atmosphere created by Nash. There was only one reason the red was popular was due to getting back in top flight 1st time in 50 yrs. imagine we did that now for example? Be no one left…. :ayatollah:

Fulham and Brighton both under 30k. Many games barely over 30k.

Fact is the average was over 30k, that's what matters.

Yeah that is true but I didn’t say we didn’t get that.

I said we had games we didn’t get 30k.

We actually didn’t sell out many games.

If we do get back up, unless we do well for a sustained period crowds would be around 26k after one whole season I think apart from games against bigger clubs. We would have 20 odd thousand Season ticket holders keeping it at that.

Exactly, seemed to be less of the “just showed up glory hunting twats in red” 2nd time around too…..we can average 30 whilst still not being great, imagine what we could get if established one day…. :bluescarf:

I believe playing attractive football will add some more fans even if not always winning.

Our average crowd when we were last in the Premier League was 31408 which was the seventh highest in the League, we certainly have the potential to be at least a top 10 club. Our crowd were higher than Brighton,Southampton,Crystal Palace,Wolves etc and just below Leicester when they won Premier League !
