Style of play

Wed Oct 23, 2024 10:22 am

I for one am loving the “new” attacking style of play that Riza has adopted, it reminds me of the DJ era, and I hope it will last and we don’t revert to the boring football we have endured since post Warnock.

My concern is that Riza may have gambled on that style and should he get the job will he become more cautious ? Maybe WBA & Norwich will tell us that ?

Alternatively if a new manager comes in, will he adopt a less attacking style of play ? I hope not.

One thing we do know is that Tan will be over the moon with the shot stats as another poster has put up, that in itself could be enough for him to give Riza the role full time, and if he does I hope Riza understands that.

We all know this squad hasn’t got the depth to achieve the premier league this season, but having a go and an attacking philosophy should see a few more attending again, and that along side the attacking style of play will hopefully get Tan to open the coffers up to get the depth of squad we need and have a realistic go at it next season.

I disagree to a certain extent about the depth of the squad, as we have a potential second string midfield of Ramsey, Siopis and Ralls and two decent centre halfs on the bench and a decent reserve keeper. That lot would grace a top six bench. What we do lack is another striker to help out Robinson and a left back. Add that in January and despite the gap we have left ourselves we can make a push this season if Tanner, Colwill etc can carry on playing like this

Daland is on the bench because he has just come back from injury, and Fish we haven’t seen enough of really.

Ramsey I don’t think in my personal opinion is good enough anymore. His legs don’t let him do what his head is telling him to do.

So respectfully, I don’t agree that our second string players would make it on the bench of any of the top 6.

Yesterday the game changed when Sio and Rinhomota came on for Robertson and Turnbull.

We have a poor bench and that shut up shop tactic is too premature...

We need replacements for metie and kanga. They can't come on and hold a ball up, win a free kick or get on and finish a clearance. There s no advantage using them, no impact. The starting team picks itself virtually. It will be interesting to see the next 4 games......
